Talk about the possibility of blood in the sand. Obviously their mothers did not tell them it was dangerous to play with sharp pointy things. Great looking backdrop too.

Unfortunately backdrop is a bit pixilated, pic I found on Internet being a bit on small side, still better than nothing !

Yes, Pollice Verso, a very famous painting Mike, and I think the inspiration behind one of the as yet unreleased Gladiator sets, though slightly different.

For anyone with the space for a permanent display and the budget, there is the new First Legion Gladiators training school, which put me in mind of the one in the classic film Spartacus.
Though of course Gladiators belong in the arena, so another alternative is perhaps a section of a 3D printed arena as I've mentioned in other Gladiator threads.

I find the Wolf nipple chips a little dry on their own, so always dip mine in fermented fish guts. Oh yes those Romans were culinary geniuses !

Yes I agree, he looks so much like the stereotypical Gladiator one remembers from childhood.
Must of been very difficult to fight in such a helmet, eyesight and breathing difficulties aside, with it looking to be top heavy, you would have to be sure of your movements and if you were to face a Retarius as an opponent with his net, you could easily become his catch !
