Gloss Napoleonics Page (3 Viewers)

Very nice figure sets Rob. You have a great collection and now we get to view the Imperial figures.

Pat: What can I say. Your band is stunning. Thanks for showing the band. John

So many nice sets and figures coming out lately. Matt- Gloss - Matt Gloss??? I don't know what to buy? My list keeps getting longer...... hope I don't need a lawyer. Under quarantine now for toysoldieritis. John

I agree with the others, Pat, the Beau Geste band is a great-looking set! Do you have any of the Ysenbourg infantry, to set up a little parade?

Prost!
Brad

And of course, not to ignore Rob's and Nathan's contributions to the thread, too. Imperial always have such a clean, stylish look to them, don't they?

And Jeff's hand-painted set-well, what can we say? Great castings and he does such a great treatment!

Very good idea for a thread, prosit!

Hi Brad,

Thanks for your kind comment. It is greatly appreciated!

No, I do not have any of the Ysenbourg Infantry. Unfortunately, I cannot accomodate your request.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your kind comment and your interest in my band. The band was manufactured by Beau Geste and it consists of three separate sets. These sets are:

1. Set #39 - Drummers Line, Regt. D'Isenbourg, 1809

2. Set #40 - First Line Music Band, Regt. D'Isenbourg, 1809

3. Set #41 - Winds Line Music Band, Regt. D'Isenbourg, 1809

All three sets have long since been retired by Beau Geste. I feel very fortunate to have these figures included in my collection.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Thanks for the responce Pat , they make a super display together thats
for sure . And even better to have got them pre their retirement .

Regards Rob

Alright then, Bill. Here is a little sneak peak of something I am working on ever so gradually these days. This is the colours party from 28th Regiment of Foot at Waterloo. Plenty more to come from these guys in time. :)

MD

What company made them mate?:DThey're very nice:D

Below is a Napoleonic figure from Soldiers of the World. I bought it as a stand alone figure at a show. I think it's a Fusilier-Chasseur but I'm not sure.

Another maker to add to your Napoleonic theme Dave. :)

Chasseur a' pied IMHO

I have a few that I have worked on. I did repairs and touch ups. They are quite stunning in mass.

There are drummers and fifers and sappeurs standard bearers and officers on horseback. There are a total of 58 pieces.

Hi Vamp, You answered Chasseur a' pied IMHO

What does IMHO stand for? Does anyone know what box set it might have been part of?

Below are two other items with a question mark.

The first shows two Napoleonics at attention, dressed in white with sky blue facings, a plume tipped in blue and a bit of red at the neck. Were they Dutch, or the 'old whites' with the pre-revolution uniforms, and what set may they be from in the Soldiers of the World series?

The second photo shows a figure similar to the two at attention but with red facings and a red tipped plume. Same questions.

I hope showing these figures with my questions is in the spirit of this thread. :)

Hi Russell,

I cannot answer your questions regarding the figures you posted, but I can answer the following for you:

IMHO = In My Humble Opinion.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Seeing all these wonderfully painted gloss Napoleonic soldiers makes me wnat to go out and paint some more figures! I paint both gloss and matt depending on the figure, beacuse if it has fine deatils, I think that matt brings out the sculptor's fine work, but with less definition, the painter's skill comes out more so.

I see that some members have shown off thier bands, well here are 3 of mine.

Here is something different, a doctor, nurse, medic and hussar casualty cast from Prince August Moulds

I've got more, but they are on my website, so I hope you like my painting too!

You should check out Alexander's Toy Soldiers website. They produce the largest range of Napoleonic figures on the market without exception.

Thanks for the tip about Alexander's Toy Soldiers, but I'm an avid fan of Nik's figures already, and just love what he does in the Napoleonic range.

I know that this is a gloss manufacture's discussion page, but I paint my ATS in matt because I think Alan Caton's sculpting shows of better in that finish.

When I was in UK last year, for the March Toy Soldier Show, I met up with Nik and inspected his vast array of gloss figures on display. A few weeks later I went to his home in suburban London and saw his toy soldier business in operation and spoke extensivley with him about his range. When I wanted to purchase some castings, he didn't have them in stock, but he turned on the metal pot, found the centifugal mould, set up the casting machine and, then and there, poured the figure for me!

Here are some of my painting of some of the Retreat to Corunna sets, and I'm sure that they do look just as good in gloss.
