Should be a great series - nothing like Bird v Magic but good to see the old rivals mixing it up again. I'm taking LA in 6.

As a Spurs fan (even though they're out of it now) I could never support the Lakers!

How can an east coast guy support Hollywood? C'mon Doug, support the successors of Red, Russell, Havlicek, DJ (RIP), Bird, Sam Jones, Heinsohn and company.

Go Celts!!

Having spent the first 22 years of my life in Bean Town, and having cheered for the likes of Sam Jones, KC Jones, Bill Russell, Bob Cousey, Bill Sharman, John "Hondo
Havilchek, Satch Sanders, Tommy Heinson, and the like -- there is only one clear choice -- GO CELTICS!!!!!!!!

Lakers all the way, although this series has me worried, Celts are deep and talented, going to be a tough series.

I'm one of those rare west coast to east coast transplants. The Laker defeats to the Celts in the NBA finals border on the mythical. At one point they were 0-8 including losses by teams with Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor. Misery rivaled only by Brooklyn's suffering at the hands of the Yankees. So pay back is hell - no mercy. I can't see the Celts putting up enough points to beat LA four times in this series, but they have done it with uglier teams than this one. The 2-3-2 home format is also a big advantage to the team with home court - the Celts. I've never liked that change.

One word; DEFENSE. 88 points, thank you very much. So much for the Lakers sweep all the talking heads were predicting...........

Sunday is the key game, the Celtics take that one, they're in good shape. Kobe is absolutely amazing, what an incredible talent. What an athlete, a joy to watch........

Do you really believe LA will take 4 out of the next 5?

Dick

Yeah, poor Kobe probably does not have a hope. Not even sure they should play the rest of the series. ;) Get a split in Boston and things are on track.

Tomorrow is a must win for the Lakers. One thing that impressed me in Game 1 is the fact they only lost by 10 while having the worst quarter of the season and honestly Kobe was off all night. If they can get the win tomorrow, I think it will be a barn burner of a series (not like it isn't already).

As much of a Laker fan as I am, I love to watch Kevin Garnet play the game, I have never seen a big man shoot that well from the field since Jabbar's sky hook. He has a sweet stroke

CELTICS

Now follow the beat...La la la, La la la la, La la la, La la la la...

Tra la la the tune through game 4 (maybe 5)!

The Celts are playing lights out. If they can shoot like that on the road they will be tough to beat - and keep getting 40 to 10 free throws. One of the worst officiated games in NBA history and that's saying a lot. The home team always gets some calls, but that bordered on the ridiculous. The good news is that LA will be getting those calls in the next three games. One ray of hope is that the Celts tend to be a poor road team and there were signs of tight collars in the last few minutes. One touch foul in the final minute allowed PP to ice it otherwise a historic collapse. On to LA!

Rationalize all you want -- its still 2-0 in fvaor of the green.

Hats off to the Celtics, they have taken Kobe out of his game. No rationalization here, the Lakers simply are not overcoming the necessary adversity in any given game to win. Too many missed shots. I am still surprised at how close these 2 games were in the end. LA has to find a way to win.

As a Celtics fan, I've seen this before; play lights out the first two games at home (Atlanta and Cleveland), they stink out the joint the next two games. We'll see what happens over the next three games. The good thing is worst case scenario, we come home down 3-2.

They have played lights out defense aside from the fourth quarter brain fart last night and the officials were brutal last night; if they allow the Celtics to hammer the Lakers in LA, the series is over in four or five. The Lakers are a real finesse team, a bunch of three point shooters, although they run that back door play and the pick and roll to perfection.

Funny to hear all the talking heads on ESPN last night and today slobber all over the Celtics and say this thing is over; the same morons who four days ago all predicted the Lakers in 5 or 6.

As long as Kobe is in the house, the Lakers will make a series of it, he is an incredible talent. He scored the most quiet 30 last night I've ever seen, the man is just effortless on the court.

No matter what happens in this series, the Lakers are loaded and young and will be a powerhouse for the next four or five years.

I'll take this win should it play out that way and be thrilled, the big three part two make it happen...................

The 2-3-2 home format is also a big advantage to the team with home court - the Celts. I've never liked that change.

I was always under the impression that if the road team could steal game #1 or 2, they'd then have 3 straight at home to clinch, giving them an advantage (unless they lose #1 and 2, in which case the mountain gets high)

The problem is that it is almost impossible to win three straight even at home. At best you split the first two games and win two out of three at home. So you have to finish it on the road in the last two games.
