Go Lakers! (3 Viewers)

Tom,
The Lakers showed me a lot last night the way they came out and ran the Celtics out of the building. Everyone up here was babbling about how the Lakers were going to quit last night; no quit in them at all, they showed me a lot of heart. Pau took advantage of Perkins being out and he will do so tomorrow as well.

Just being a realist, I'm not a pop pop waiving yahoo, I call em like I see em.

Speaking of which, I respect your hoops knowledge way more than mine; explaing to me how the Kobe hack was not viewed as a foul, how do the refs miss that one, that was pathetic, no wonder why people are down on the NBA...............

George,

RE Kobe,

I purposely stayed away from that one, only thing I can say is the play happened fast and they missed it, it seems like he dunked it before any whistle could be blown. They got lucky. Who knows, I think its like holding in football, they could call it on any given play, I guess when its down the wire in the NBA, the officials seem to pocket the whistle. This time it was in the Laker's favor. They always say, it takes a little luck to win it! I still think the Lakers are facing too tall of an order.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Celtics hoist the 17th banner! A great day to be a Boston fan. Hopefully it is the start of a new dynasty. I wasn't sure whether the Celtics were playing against anyone the score was so lopsided. Poor Kobe:D:D

Game 5 was plain and pure luck for the lakers. It should have been 4-1 Celtics. The last minute fumble caused the Celtic valuable minutes(seconds)...well, bottom line is, I will be celebrating here in Phoenix.
Lalala lalalala lalala lalalala.....

I don't like off-topic items posted here, so let me just say that the big, bad LA Lakers were exposed once again. Go Lakers? Gone Lakers! The Lakers have left the house . . . . or should I say Gahden . . . in rather pitiful style. Go Celts!

I strongly suggest that this thread should be renamed to --Go Celtics!!!!!!!".

clearly, the better team won.

I'm huge Laker fan and a long time hater of the Celtics since the mid 60's. However, my hats off to the Celtics with the best Win/ Loss pct. during the regular season and beating the Lakers in six in the championship series that includes a record breaking comeback in a game and a complete blowout in the last game by almost 40 points. That's a champion. So you Celtic fan enjoy the championship now and we'll see if you can do it again next year.

I suspect the Lakers will be back again next year, a little smarter, a little better and a little hungrier.

Carlos

Congrats to the Celts. They were the better team in every respect. The NBA season is so long it's almost time to start again.

George,

I feel like LA is going to lay an egg tomorrow night and Garnet will have his career playoff game. Kobe keeps saying they are due to have a good game in Boston, but I don't believe it, just too inconsistent when it matters and the physicality of the Celtics will win out. ..... Game 4 collapse, that is what the Lakers will look back on and realize they really blew it.

I hate being right. Just had that feeling, the Lakers never had a sense of urgency or command during this series. The Celtics played great defense when it mattered and all of their forces aligned last night, perfect win, perfect game. I think we may have a few of these series over the next couple years. Lakers will be back, especially with Bynum's return, hopefully Boston stays intact and healthy as I think it will be another exciting series and a reason to watch the NBA. Honestly and saying this as a Laker's fan, I think it was amazing the Lakers even made it there after the start to the season , the controversy and the overall inexperience. So I am happy at that!

I'm glad you were right on this one............bring on the parade........

The things that surprised me the most:

1) how well the Celtic role guys played. In particular how they shot lights out from 3-pt range. Granted most were wide open shots. They came in with a reputation for great D, but they torched the Lakers all series. Ray Allen looked like MJ against that Laker D.

2) how the Celtics held up for 26 playoff games - more than any other team in NBA history - and didn't lose their edge. I really thought they would be leg weary as the series progressed, but they outhustled LA in every game.

3) Kobe's decision to settle for contested jump shots instead of driving to the hoop. This was a killer resulting in no FTs, no rebounds, and low shooting percentage. The whole series was a train wreck for LA, but some decisions were in their control.

Once again Doug you are dead on accurate. After the Celtics traded for Allen and KG, all I heard was "Big deal, the big three but the other 9 players are mediocre" from all the experts out there. Boy were they wrong; look at the difference last night with Perkins back in there.

Have to give Ainge major credit, he put together a nice little team, grabbing Casell off the scrap heap and talked Brown out of retirement.

The Lakers will be back; I hope they and the Celtics meet up again next year in the finals...................
