Due to some conflicts I only saw the first episode so waiting to catch the others before I give my final review.
Was kind of neutral on the first, enjoyed it but wasn't bowled over, did learn some new information.

Grant’s reputation, despite the scandals that occurred during his administration, has improved over time. He was once considered one of the worst presidents, ranking in the bottom of the list, but over time his reputation has improved so that he’s ranked around number 20.

I agree and further, for all the crap that has been written calling Grant a belligerent drunk is hogwash. He may have had his moments, but I personally think one of the finest ones was the dignity he gave to General Lee and his Army during the surrender. He treated him with more respect than most and made a very difficult situation a kind one. Grant was not a pushover in any way during that ceremony, but he made sure it was a dignified end to a miserable and terrible conflict. There were still hard times to come, but you cannot fault Grant for trying to do the best and do the right thing. I actually believe he was well promoted and one of the very best Union leaders. If some of his subordinates would have better followed his orders from the get go, it may very well have shortened the war and conflict.

Watched the first two episodes. Thought it okay, no great insights. One problem I have with productions like this are the lack of realism. Every battle is a skirmish line, no depiction of reg'ts, bgdes, or batteries. Why? They're are plenty of re-enactor groups that could accurately depict the battles. How about so good old CGI?
