Great new addition to the collection coming in the next day or two..... (2 Viewers)

Martyn...that really is a fantastic piece...maybe the centerpiece of your entire collection...I had no idea it was 1 of only 18 made...now that is pretty rare...thanks for the sneak peek the other day...it's a beauty...congrats to you and your fantastic collection!

Many thanks Michael :salute::

Cheers

Martyn:)

hi martyn, nice ship. i was wondering though, are there supposed to 15 crewman or 14

A toy soldier magazine tells how many were made. Maybe 8 or 12? We have one. It is the pride of our collection.

The only comment I will make is that this thread is eight years old For a second I thought Martyn had found another great piece

Ha! Yeah, I don't know why the thread was resurrected either.
Hawkeye, the HMS Lion has 14 figures and looks just like the picture.
I looked this morning for the TS&MF magazine that had the production #'s for the Trophy boats. I have so many magazines stored so poorly that all I got was a backache from lifting paper. It was in the interview with Len Taylor. But someone knows how many of each were made. Not more than a dozen of these.
I just read that Tom Dubel said he has TWO Nile Steamboats (I want a commission now;)) that he will bring to the Chicago Show.
Sorry I missed you all last year. This year mum is sick but we'll try to show up the show.
Best Wishes and Trophy is Aces,
Paddy for Pat Sr (who insisted on buying the Lion in the year 2000 for $1875) and myself

Hi Guys

Many thanks for resurrecting this thread

A good friend, Tommy Allison (W.T. Allison II), posted this info back in 2020

"Before he passed away, Len Taylor sent me the following production numbers for his boats and autos: Leopard 28; Lion 18; Eagle 35; Victoria 66; and autos in India 67 each. No numbers for the small Nile Gunboat or the Arab Dhow. Hope this helps and good hunting! Tommy"

My HMS LION is number 13 of the 18 that Trophy made

All the best

Martyn:)

Thanks Martyn. So I 'lied'. 18 HMS Lions. Still, glad I have one!
We need to take some pics of our large Trophy collection. In the meantime, please keep posting Trophy and Little Legion dioramas.

One thing I will probably never get :(is one of those autos. I didn’t know so few had been made.

I am lucky enough to have the Nile Steamer Victoria, the Union Gunboat Eagle, the Nile River Gunboat and the Maddhist Dhow in my collection. They are all works of art. I put them right up with the WWI Lorries (which I own), Buses (I have all but the Gray one), Motor Ambulance (which I am still after) and the two Rolls Royce Staff Cars (which I own) as some of Trophy's greatest works.
