Dear All

Welcome to April’s releases we hope you enjoy them starting off with the Spartans. We have sold out of our first run of Spartans and this is our last top of SPA001-007 so if you are thinking of getting into this range then now maybe a good time:

We have also revisited some of the first sets with new shields in a very limited format, for those of you who want to add a little variety to your diorama these high quality figures can only enhance it.

SPA003 D Standing waiting with Griffon Shield

SPA003 E standing Waiting with 4 Wing Red Shield

Each variant limited to 50 pieces

SPA005 D Kneeling waiting with Griffon Shield

SPA005 E Kneeling Waiting with 4 Wing Red Shield

SPA008 B Wounded Officer with traditional Spartan shield unlimited so long as demand is there

SPA008 D Wounded Officer with Griffon Shield limited to 50 pieces

SPA009 C ‘Down But Not Out‘ A wounded Spartan warrior takes a final stand raising his Dory against the advancing Persians, comes with traditional style Spartan shield.

SPA009 D As above but with Griffon shield limited to 50 pieces

Moving on 600 years we have some new Romans;

ACC PACK 014: A very useful set of mixed Roman and Barbarian weapons to add to your battlefield diorama, 100 initial sets made but unlimited so long as demand prevails

ROM045 A/B/C Thrust Part 2; A Roman moves in for the kill, the A version unlimited so long as demand is there, with the B (30TH Legion) and C (9th Legion) limited to 100 pieces.

ROM050B Marching with leather covered shield limited to 100 pieces worldwide

All the above are priced at $49/£39 and available now

And advancing even further in time we have some more WW1 Germans:

GW076 German on parade with Pickelhaube and backpack priced at $42/£31

Last but not least some WW2 figures featuring the following:

RS045 Aussie soldier

RS046 Aussie pointing

RS047 Aussie Sgt Major

All the above Australians are $42/£31 and limited to 100 in number worldwide, there will be some Japanese prisoners for these guys to keep an eye on in the near future as well as some great looking fighting Japanese army figures who have not surrendered!

Last but not least a nifty little vehicle not produced by us before and below is a little history for RS048 The Bantam Jeep which I hope you find interesting reading;

· In 1940, the U S Army asked 135 tractor and auto manufacturers to design a four-wheel drive, 40 horsepower, 1,300 pound reconnaissance car that could haul soldiers as well as heavy artillery. The designer was expected to have a working prototype available for a test run within 49 days.

· Only two companies responded to the request, The American Bantam Car Company of Butler, Pa. and Willys-Overland Motors of Toledo, Ohio. Because Bantam promised to deliver the prototype in 45 days they won the contract.

· Bantam’s Factory Manager Frank Fenn, former General Motors Executive Arthur Brandt and a skeleton work crew were feverishly working on the project when Fenn called freelance designer Karl Probst in Detroit and offered him the design job. Probst agreed to design the car in five days and forgo payment for his services if Bantam did not win the Army contract.

· The Bantam prototype was called the Bantam Reconnaissance Car, or BRC. After maintaining a frantic schedule for nearly seven weeks, the Bantam group managed to bring the layouts and spec sheets to life.

· Ralph Turner of Butler drove the vehicle to Camp Holabird, Maryland on September 23. The Army tested it for 30 days. Unfortunately, the Army gave Ford and Willys the Bantam’s blueprints and they produced the vehicles the Army required. Ford and Willys fulfilled the Army’s contracts for 600,000 Jeeps for World War II. The Bantam Jeep eventually evolved into the Willys MB and the Ford GPW, it is known as the father of all Jeeps.

· Bantam produced a total of 2,675 Jeeps most of which were supplied to the British/Commonwealth Allies as well as some making their way to Russia.

The Bantam comes on its own as a standalone set with Jerry Can and Sten Gun in an olive drab scheme and generic Allied markings, an artillery piece and crew will follow shortly to accompany it or you can incorporate it into any WW2 diorama only limited by your own imagination! Limited to 100 in number and priced at $89/£69.

That’s all for this month folks, the Roman War Elephant is well under way as well as our new Persians both of which I have attached pictures of, hopefully some of these will make an appearance next month.

Best wishes The Gunn Team

Thanks for posting Wayne. The Aussie figures and Jeep look very good together and would look splendid as a stand alone scene with some just Jungle type background.

Welcome back Rob, its been a while!

Thank you Wayne for posting once again, Christmas is coming soon!

That Jeep looks good and very well priced. I'm not sure though if it will fit into my area of collecting which is Europe and the desert. Tom or anyone else, do you know if this Jeep was used in Europe or Africa? If the Commonwealth forces had some in Africa then I may get one repainted into British Eight Army colours unless Tom you are bringing out an EA version if it did serve in Africa?

Dude that jeep is a must. You are not going to find better market value than that.

I'm loving this new jeep! It has a rather "dirty" look about it and I do believe that the Brits had them in N. Africa. If not, I may still purchase for some Rat Patrol action. I also think the extra fuel can and gun are a nice added value. Very cool!

EDIT: here's some additional info.

The photograph (opposite) shows a typical British marked Bantam 40 BRC in the colours of the 6th Armoured Division complete with .303 Bren gun mount on the passenger side. The vehicle's light weight also made it particularly suited for use by British airborne units in North Africa.

Well, maybe the next offering would be the Rat Patrol Jeeps itself in action!!, gunners blazing away with their weapons, and drivers haphazardly dodging bullets and shells. Hint, Hint.....Thomas Gunn, Hint......

Tomorrow afternoon GMT or possibly Thursday morning depending on photos, will see the release of our Desert Bantam. Unfortunately this one is of a more sedate nature and does not have armament, however it will still look great as an accessory with an SAS patrol or in any other Desert diorama.
Hopefully you will all enjoy it as much as you have the olive drab version which has just about sold out here.

Best wishes Vicki

Nice Roman arms and armor set. Always great to have loose pieces to add interest to a diorama.
I really look forward to the TG Catapult (Onager). Will a Scorpion and Ballista be available in future? No Roman Legion is complete without artillery.

Do the windshield fold? I believe the Flying Tigers used this Jeep in China.

Noli-Poli

Sorry Noli Poli the shield on this version is fixed in the upright position.

We have 2 more versions coming and may drop the shield on these.
