H&A Damaged Factory Building/Treefrog "Give-away" (1 Viewer)

Here is my reason for wanting it.
My house just burned to the ground, my wife left me for the mailman, my son just went to prison, my dog was hit by a car, I was layed off from my job of 30 years, all of this in the past week. If I received the building it would make all the pain go away.
Gary

I would believe you Gary except I know you're retired :rolleyes2:

My advice.........don't give it away to someone who will want to profit from your generosity by selling it on ebay :rolleyes2:

Speaking for the many collectors who buy and sell on ebay, I would hope that this type of post is unnecessary. This piece whoever receives it deserves to be displayed.

I sell a ton of things on ebay to supplement my personal collection and changing interests, that said, there are some things you may receive either by paying for or generosity that should never be sold, only passed on. In this case, Mark's generosity and the wonderful piece itself is one of them.

CRAP, talk about coincidences, I was just about to post the same, except I lost my wife to the UPS delivery man......................

TD, unfortunately this type of post is necessary, there are collectors here who have profit in the forefront of their minds {eek3}........I agree with you, hopefully on this particular item, this won't be a problem...........bottomline: this is a hobby, not a money making business (unless you're a dealer) :wink2: I've sold many items on ebay as well (I've sold tons of Barzso plastic to switch to Jenkins metal, change of interest as you say), that's not what I'm slamming here, I'd just hate to see something given with such generosity end up on ebay.......not saying it will, but if it did

Grant,

I'm ruling you out for your own good...I want you to remain married upon your return and telling her the biggest box is a prize is soooo potential of a divorce in the making:rolleyes:

Funny! she asked my on skype last night if I have been buying soldiers.....lol

Dont worry , my come back is "fine, I will sell everything and take up golfing!" - that usually settles it for 90 days!

She likes them- she has a pretty neat little collection herself of Indians she has bought at the Chicago show.

I know, I hear what you are saying and a quick buck is always out there. I hope not on this piece too. I saw this when it first debuted in Chicago and was in awe. It is just a cool piece, one of those, if you put it behind glass, you would think you are in a Museum. I know I sound like a "homer" on this piece as I consider Ken a good "Yankee" friend, but in all seriousness, this is one of the few pieces that actually blew me away when I saw it. Ok, I will get off the recommendation perch now.

If I was in your shoes and looking for someone to receive your gift
I would not chose me who has already all the figures I always wanted to have

But a new and young collector.. Someone who has not enough dough to buy more than one or two figures a year. maybe one kid or one teenager who has a strong love for military history

My 2 cents

Alex

No Offence to anyone inferred or implied, but just a general Observation:

Isn't it a funny thought that you cannot even give something away on your own terms on any discussion board, without people weighing in on how you SHOULD do it?

- the first contest should have been "whoever can tell me the best way to give something away will be the proud owner of the concept of how I will give my things away".

I Have seen this before on other boards. me thinks it is a culture of thinking out loud that many do on discussion boards i wonder whats for lunch today

Your contest is very generous, and in the true spirit of Collecting! Hats off to you!

Haha, I think you're safe sitting on that recommendation perch for a while for this piece :) I haven't seen it in person, but it looks like a photo of a real building (especially the model he did of his grandfather's garage workshop). Ken is an awesome sculptor, I wish to be half as good as him someday!

I want to give this (MIB) Hudson & Allen Damaged Factory Building away to a fellow treefroger under this condition...they tell me why they think they should be chosen as the recipient (let's have some fun with this)? ^&grin

I'm getting rid of this as I have a definitive answer now on our move date of April. My display ideas have went from really big, to a more civil size. It is a wonderful piece with no flaws and comes with an extra H&A bag of urban debris. It was signed by Ken "to me" and about 20 treefrogger's who agreed to have me include their names too. I'm somewhat embarrased to be selling it now after the big signature event and all but my desires and needs have changed...someone else here will enjoy it very much nevertheless~and even more so because it's absolutely free!

Markey

Wow, what an incredibly thoughtful offer. My pitch...give it to me, I'll become your personal valet in Maui {sm4}and let you play with it in my servant's quarters...and it'll never darken the doorstep of ebay.
