Having a grey day (2 Viewers)

debrito...

Cheers for that. If it were mine I would have weathered it up a lot more especially around the wheels and tracks. However, I was under the instruction of the collector who wants no heavy weathering.

Mitch,

my thoughts exactly after seeing photos of the gun in the war.

Maybe we sahll see a more weatherd one smetime?

Thanks for the tips on the paint used, I'll keep that in mind when doing Grey German vehicles.

Guys...
Thank you for the comments very kind. Hopefully heres the answer for the questions:

Debrito...When I repaint grey variants I always use brush instead of an airbrush. I get a better texture to the AFV and, I know you can use the modulation process with an airbrush but, I find I use my airbrush for the camo patterns on german AFV's and buildings only. I use Vallejo paints but, mostly I use Humbrol No79 grey for the colour adding a little white to get the right colour I think field grey was. I use different colour vallejo paints yellow red green blue etc and put small dots of these colours on the AFV and blend in with white spirit. I also use a blue for panzer grey wash from Mig which gives a nice touch to the flat grey. its either or of the above as each give a great effect.

Obee... I prefer (a personal preference) vallejo iraqi sand for highlighting the rivets panels etc but, I also use a lot of washes home made and bought again, all mig or vallejo or, a new variant AK interactive for higlights. I have seen your work so, not much wrong there or much I can help you with its always superb.

Sentaapua..

All the stuff I show is commissionm work and, its not at all expensive.

Guy...

Its a K&C WSS 103 variant so, under the banner of 1/30th

Mitch, Thank you for sharing photos of the 88mm re-paint and for explaining type of paint and color blending.....I think I'll give it a try on some 1:35 scale Tamiya models. Again excellent work...Best Frank

Frank...

No problem. I think you should have a crack at it its not hard at all and, would love to see the results. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any and hopefully I can help.

Very nice paint job Mitch, congratulations^&cool

weathering is down to individual choice. I have seen heavily weathered vehicles which, afterwards do not fit with the rest of a persons K&C collection as they are not really weathered in terms of dust, or tonal variations etc IMO.
Mitch

Or as an "expert" once told a nervous modeler at an IPMS chapter I belonged to,",Its nice but too dusty, not properly weathered",poor soul almost dropped it.

Had to dig to find this thread but i felt it was appropriate. I'm not the first to have this AK 105mm set repainted for the vastness of the Russian Steppes but Alex did a really excellent job with it! LONG LIVE THE GREYS!!!

I have the same gun but it is loose and just points at the ground. How do you keep yours elevated?

Terry

I put the kneeling figure, hands clasped on the rail and the loader in front of him, also over the rail
