Finally finished my Normandy road/ruined chapel diorama in the weekend and managed to take a few quick snaps. It's been a steep learning curve, but I finally got there with a little encouragement from the Aussie lads.

Took quite a few photographs, but I'm rubbish with a camera, let alone trying to upload them....^&grin

Anyway I hope to post a few more over the next week or two. Feel free to comment, good or bad and any feedback is most welcome either way.

Cheers Toddy

PS. Uploaded a few more in my albums under my profile.

Toddy,
Sincere congrats on your dio. It's more than just a nice effort. I love your scenery and the ruin is very realistic( moss on walls, debris etc ...). Ruin is very nicely integrated in the vegetation ;Could not have done it any better . .The 1st picture is the one I prefer
guy:)

You can never do a bad diorama using Market Garden Para's, they are so good. Your workmanship has paid off, the scenery and surrounds are excellent. Both the figures and backdrops compliment each other. Robin.

Great use of scenery in the Dio and just a great result.

Reminds me why I like K&C vehicles.

Regards
Mark

Like the ground work and everything looks good. British stuff from K & C always look good.

Not bad for a Kiwi I suppose..{sm3}:wink2: No! seriously, well done mate. :salute:: Only very minor criticism I'll make (just a thing I have) covering the bases would make it a 12 out of 10 mate.
Wayne.

Hi Desertkiwi,

I'm new to the forum this is my first post.

I love the pics especially the last one of the Churchill tank, The first tank I purchased from King and Country.
I collect mainly the Battle of the Bulge and D Day vehicles and figures when the funds allow.

Keep up the good work
DRON

Hi Tod, great looking diorama, love all the detail in the terrain, foilage, ruins, beautiful display...Sammy

Thanks heaps fella's for all the feedback, it's much appreciated and thanks too to all the 'likes' and viewers:salute::

Funny you mention the pic of the 3x Para's in the ruin Guy. That shot was an after thought and came out better than I thought it would. My plan yesterday was to take photographs outdoors using natural light, however the weather wouldn't play ball and was quite windy and threatened to rain. I ended up setting things up in my garage and had a go taking a few shots under cover, but I found many of my photographs were too dark or had too many shadows.

Still I learned a lot and have a whole knew appreciation of all those members who build and share their displays on TF.

You're right Wayne, hiding bases is the way to go and gives added realism which quite a few blokes seem to have mastered.

I'll post a few more pic's soon and aim to add a few German vehicles in the mix too.

Cheers!

I invested in a telescopic dual flood lights, less than $100. These overhead lights really make the diorama crisp and alive photo's. In full extension they are about as tall as a person, so even a diorama on a table still has the lights overhead. Combined with the normal overhead house light you can usually avoid any shadows. Hope this helps. Robin.

Found another 3x pic's that don't have huge shadows everywhere, although the Panther shot is a little out of focus.

I made the stone wall out of little cut down bits of polystyrene into bricks, which I individually painted and glued together. The bricks ended up a bit too big and chunky and a little dark, so I throw lots of woodland scenic stuff at them to disguise them.

Anyway I had fun fiddling about and learned quite a bit using different paints.

Thanks for the advice Robin, I definitely need to do something more with the lighting and the stands sound like a great idea.

Cheers!

First thing I thought, those Para's are heading into a ambush as the jeep squad never made it to the Arnhem bridgehead. They were shot up by German machine gun cross fire along the main road to the town. You are having way too much fun with your terrain board. :wink2:, Robin.

You're giving me way too many good ideas Robin. I'll just have to dig out some of my 'Jerry collection' to create a wee story line now.....{sm4}

Cheers mate.
