Heco Tinplate Models (3 Viewers)

I just picked up a Heco #7 Bleriot Monoplane, single seat seaplane, fitted with "C" type floats. Photos to follow upon receipt.:wink2:

Now the skies at Aerodrome Badalato are getting very busy, as well as the landing strips. Time to hire some air traffic controllers before time eras get crossed, or worse. ^&grin It all looks great. I like the Gladiators on scramble. -- Al

I agree that the Galdiators really look great in the air.^&cool^&cool In the interwar era there is also a high flying Fairey Swordfish getting ready to hunt for some Nazi shipping.:wink2:

I won an ebay auction for a very nice late production Heco Tinplate Sopwith Triplane. Photos to follow upon receipt.:smile2:

I just snagged a really nice DH9 Biplane with a standing pilot and seated gunner. Photos to follow upon receipt.:smile2:

The gentleman from whom I purchased the late production Sopwith Triplane sent me photos of another Heco Tinplate aircraft, sadly very badly damaged in transit to him: a very late production Vickers Gunbus pusher plane, with the rigging done with thread rather than metal wire. I don't know if I have the skill to repair it (it is VERY badly damaged), but since he offered it to me free, I am going to take a shot at it.

Any treefrogger in the New York City area who fancies himself a good modeler, and would like to take a shot at repairing it, I would happily pay someone who knows what they're doing rather than leave it up to my - at best rusty - modeling skills.

Louis, could you show photos when received. Sometimes a radio controlled race car / plane hobby shop has someone with fine jewelers skilled solderers that could replace the thread with fine chrome wire as shown in most of Heco's late period stuff and soldered joints. You would never know the difference. I did the same using wire and beads of super glue on my early Triplane and it looks fine...Michael

Louis,

Please send me photos. My friend Mike DeMarco who repairs toy soldiers might be able to do this. For example, with broken horses' legs, he has sodered new parts that looked better than the original. I can alk to him after I receive the photos.

I will forward you the e-mail with the photos, Brad. As you will see, the entire frame, wings, landing gear and engine need to be soldered back together, then the thread needs to be restrung for the wire bracing throughout. If Mike can do it, I would be happy to pay to see the plane restored.

Thanks!

Louis

Michael,

I sent Brad the photos of the trashed plane (he can post them if you want him to). I asked him to see if his friend Mike DeMarco can fix it.

I won an auction today for an A.G. Williams Toy Soldiers (another of the d/b/a's Tony Williams used prior to Heco) tinplate Horse Drawn Ambulance very similar to my A.W. Military Figures Royal Engineers Telegraph Tools Wagon. Photos to follow upon receipt.:smile2:

The Sopwith Triplane arrived today. It is very late production, with excellent detail. It is the only Heco Triplane I have ever seen with the wire rigging reproduced. My son fell in love with it so it is going to go up in his room.:smile2:

The ambulance wagon arrived today. Its very cool, even has a stretcher in the back. I'll take some photos of the new arrivals soon, but I have a BIG lead on an entire collection to divvy up with Michael, Clive and Ed . . . more news soon!:wink2:

Thanks to the assistance of good friends Ed Curiel, Michael Newton (Madadicus) and Clive Gande, now that all the arrangements are finalized on our joint purchase of a large Heco collection (26 pieces, each with a standing figure), I am pleased to announce that within a couple of days I will be forwarding photos of the 10 aircraft from the collection I purchased to Brad with a polite request that he post them on this thread. Among the magnificent pieces I purchased from the collection are the highly detailed prototype of the Lohner Flying Boat, a Cierva Autogyro, a large British F2B Bomber, A Blackburn Baby floatplane, and a Junkers CL1 Floatplane.^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool

In the immortal words of Bart Scott (may he be gone next year), "can't wait!"

When I receive my 5, I will also post photos..This entire collection boasts absolute stunners as to variety and late Heco period quality..Louis got some beauts, but I can assure you, that there are no ho-hums{sm3} in this bunch of planes..Except for budget limits:( I could easily have been satisfied with any 10 choices. Michael

Mostly posting this to let Michael, Ed and Clive know . . . everything is all right (both with the deal and the seller), but the seller of the collection contacted me to let me know he had emergency surgery, is fine now, but has been delayed in getting the collection packed up and shipped out. I am not concerned because (1) I have been dealing with him for months, and he has delivered the other 30 Heco items I purchased from him in the past, and (2) he is a retired U.S. Marines Major, and a nice and honorable gentleman. I will keep you posted once he lets me know the items have shipped.
