Heco Tinplate Models (3 Viewers)

There are three nice Heco Tinplate Models aircraft (a Sopwith Camel, a Nieuport and a DR1 Triplane) for sale on ebay right now, each with a starting bid of $125. I am not the seller, and I have multiples of each of these models, so probably will not be bidding.

These are photos of some Heco orphans that I picked up inexpensive or were given. This Sopwith Triplane was early period with a flat propeller. I rebuilt the silver cowling, added a more realistic propeller, added bracing wires, added homemade mg, and did paint touchups...Michael

This Albatross was given to me by Louis..I replaced the lost prop cowling ,added mg's, found loose pilot, did serious touch up to paint, adding the red highlights. I am looking for a forum painting ace to total repaint this plane in gloss camo of some sort..Please PM me.. Michael

Based on my reference sources ,this plane is a Pfalz D whatever. Beautifully painted. Any ideas to remove old gloss without damaging paint or decals. The upper wing got wavy in its gloss finish as in an overspray..Michael

Beautiful group of planes, Michael. The Morane and Spad are outstanding and I really like the Eindekker. -- Al

Michael,

Nice work on the Albatross!:smile2: I love your new editions, every one of which looks terrific!

While walking the aisles at the West Coaster Toy Soldier Show yesterday, I spotted a little silver airplane in a pile of otherwise unremarkable toys. I picked it up and found it to be a silver, fully crewed low winged, twin float monoplane with in-line engine and RAF roundals. On the bottom was printed "HECO 02" . . . and for less that $100! Until then I'd not realized how beautiful these toys are. My budget once again was shattered with it's purchase. In some respects it resembles a German Naval Brandenburg (sp?) . . . Can anyone tell me what plane it represents? (If I knew how to post images I surely would!)

Nice find!:smile2:

E-Mail me a photo, Al, and I will identify it for you. If it is an Allied twin float monoplane, there are only two possibilities: a Bleriot Monoplane with C-Type Floats or a Supermarine S6 (Schneider Trophy Winner). Heco also made a German Monoplane Floatplane (Junkers CL1). I have one of the Bleriot Monoplanes with Floats and the CL1 with floats, but have never been able to find a Supremarine S6.

Bosun Al sent me photos of his allied monoplane floatplane, and I am happy to annouce I was wrong - it is an entirely different Heco floatplane than I have ever seen in the past. All of Heco's floatplanes are rare as hens teeth - I thought I had all but one - but it turns out there is another one out there for me to pursue. I have asked Al for permission to forward the photos to Brad to post on his behalf. If he gives me permission, there will be some photos of a really terrific floatplane for our other friend Al (Lancer) to identify for us.:smile2:

With Bosun Al's permission, I forwarded 5 photos of his magnificent Heco Monoplant Floatplane to Brad with a polite request that he post them on this thread. Hopefully, come Saturday, he will be posting some photos of my newest Heco acquisitions, including a Build-A-Rama custom water matt with Heco Lohner Flying Boat, Junkers CL1 Floatplane, Bleriot Monoplane Floatplane, Blackburn Sopwith Baby Floatplane, and two Royal Navy Biplane Floatplanes.:smile2:

Six floatplanes is a very impressive number. I look forward to the pictures. -- Al

When Louis passed up on this Ebay auction for 3 Heco airplanes, I almost was going to also, because the photos were terrible. Thank goodness for those bad pictures because I took a chance on the " white " Neuport and received this absolute mint beauty..Michael
