Heco Tinplate Models (3 Viewers)

These certainly are terrific planes! After getting the low-wing float plane shown earlier, I can see why HECO models become . . . well, almost an obsession! Was wondering if there is anything such as a master list of HECO aircraft produced? Are they still in production?

Around page 12 of this thread, Louis provided an old catalog list. It is not complete as I have found item #s not on that list, but it gives you a general idea. The company is no longer in business..Michael

Ansaldo SVA-5. Very nice model. -- Al

I love the paint job on the SVA-5. By the way, Al, please take a look at the photos of Bosun Al's monoplane floatplane on the last page, and let me know if you can identify it.:smile2:

That one has me stumped, Louis. I'm not real familiar with floatplanes but this monoplane doesn't look like anything I know about. Could be inter-war, which I know next to nothing about. There are at least 8 manufactures that made floatplanes for the RN in WW1. The nose does resemble something from the Short stable, but I really don't know. Got me on this one.:redface2: -- Al

Thanks . . . found the list and downloaded it!

Clive is the man!!!^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool He has found me two large Heco Tinplate dioramas, one WWI and one WWII.:smile2: I just responded to his e-mail and agreed to buy both.:smile2: These are the biggest Heco items I will have obtained to date, and will definitely require some serious photography for Brad to post on this thread upon receipt.:wink2:

But can you be trusted? {eek3}:wink2:

I asked Louis this question and he is checking with his contacts, but in case those that know might check in here..What paint mfg. was used by Heco. I want to touch up a plane or 2 and am having a hard time trying to mix colors that match good enough..Michael

I asked Clive to ask Tony Williams himself, and will pass the information about the brand of paint used as soon as Clive can obtain the information and pass it along to me.:wink2: I am also awaiting photos from Clive of the two Heco diorams he has found and obtained for me.:smile2:

I just found out that Tony Williams used to sell toy soldiers under the brand name "Merlin Castings". If any of you gentlemen come across any figures by "Merlin Castings" or have any you could photograph, or better yet are willing to sell, please let me know.:smile2:

Clive got me the two dioramas, picking them up at the show. One is a V1 Launch Ramp diorama, the other a Royal Flying Corps workshop with a mechanics crew installing an engine in a biplane. Here is a quote from the e-mail Clive was kind enough to send me abou it:

"I got them but not had chance to open the packaging as yet.
The V-1 dio ramp is over 4 foot long should be fun to ship.
The workshop will be amazing judging by the little pieces such as the engine on a stand and the wings of the plane."

Clive, I can't thank you enough, my friend!^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool

Shot down Sopwith Camel, with the top wing knocked off, the engine hanging out of the nose, and bits of the fuselage torn away revealing the skeleton underneath, as well as a 1:64 scale Red Baron DR1 Triplane, Royal Flying Corps Tractor pulling a large fuel tank with standing driver figure and Rolls Royce Armored Car with three man crew loading supplies, spare tires, etc.

Post 665

The first two are some shots of the crashed Sopwith Camel, now set up with the airfield hospital scene. All the figures depicted, including the Tommy taking the ladder from the Aerodrome Firetruck are Heco figures.
The third photo is of the new RFC Tractor pulling a fuel tank. The two pilot figures between the tractor and the two flying ambulances are Heco figures.
The fourth photo is of my 7th Rolls Royce Armored Car. The two figures behind it, and the stacks of tires are part of the crew that came with it. The two figures between it and the halftrack are also Heco tank/armored car commander figures.
The fifth photo depicts the Whippet Tank stuck in a Heco vehicle traffic jam on a road passing through the airfield. The two figures next to the Whippet are also Heco tank/armored car commanders.
