Heco Tinplate Models (3 Viewers)

Somebody must have really wanted the Heco Tinplate FE2b pusher plane that was auctioned off on eBay ending last night. I was the first bidder, and put up what I erroneously thought was a can't miss bid (all the other Heco planes on eBay from the same seller sold for less than $100, I bought 3, including nicely detailed Vickers Gunbus pusher plane, Bristol F2b and Junkers CL1, for $56, $61 and $61), but two other bidders drove the price up to $312.58!{eek3}

I saw those aircraft, Louis, and they are some very nice ones, especially the Gunbus and the Fee. You got good deals on those three, judging by what the Fee, Albatros, and Spad went for. The French Morane that was in the auction is quite nice looking, as well. Congratulations. -- Al

Al,

What did the Albatros and Spad go for? I wasn't watching those auctions (and didn't expect them to go very high).

It's all Louis' fault. He's been too good a sales man ^&grin

Louis, they went for $281, EACH. Someone wanted them, bigtime. -- Al

Yikes!{eek3}{eek3} I always thought that Heco Tinplate Models were a terrific bargain as you could get them for way less than retail on ebay, but these aircraft went for nearly twice original retail!

The Albatros and Spad both originally retailed for 118 British Pounds ($190 U.S. at todays exchange rate) while the FE2b retailed for 125 British Pounds ($201 at todays exchange rate). The Albatros and Spad each sold for $281 (174 British Pounds at todays exchange rate) while the FE2b sold for $312.58 (194 British Pounds at todays exchange rate)!

So two aircraft which retailed for 118 British Pounds each sold for 174 British Pounds each while another which retailed for 125 British Pounds sold for 194 British Pounds . . . interest in Heco is really picking up!{sm2}

And it's all your fault!{eek3}:wink2:^&grin -- Al

Now Lancer - that's not entirely fair. Louis hasn't ruined the entire Heco airplane market. True that many of the models are selling in the $250 - $300 range. But there are still lots of Heco aircraft selling in the $50 - $100 range. Unfortunately, I can't tell if the cheaper ones are those that Louis already has, or ones he hasn't tried to get yet. {eek3}^&grin

My new Heco tinplate Vickers Gunbus (late production with extra guide wire detail and a 3-D prop), Junkers CL1 and Bristol F2b arrived safely this evening. I will try to take some photos tomorrow and pass them along to Terry and Brad with a polite request that they post them on this thread.:smile2:

The Brisfit, Junkers, and the Gunbus look really good. Hard to fathom the amount of work that goes into handmaking these Heco aircraft. In particular, the F2b is very accurate looking and I'll bet that the rounded fuselages on the Junkers and Brisfit were quite difficult to make. Nice aquisitions, Louis. -- Al
