Thought I would share an early experiment at re-creation with the Conte Spartan/Persians I have managed to come up with. It is a bit primitive by the high standards here but you have to start somewhere.;)

Hey, that looks really good.....I moucho like...nice and dramatic!!! Thanks for sharing.
I wonder what something along the same lines using EoI figures would be like.
Cheers

That is an absolutely superb placement of figures and your photograph is nice and sharp, spot on, plus I do like the look of whatever you have used for the ground cover (in the final shot cover the metal bases of the front figures with it if you can. It will just give the dio that look of authenticity that they are standing on their own feet)

Not at all primitive you have the basis of an excellent dio there. Well done and trust me you can never go wrong with using Conte figures if you are designing an action dio. Ten outta ten!

With the exception of a dio I saw of FUBAR's wargaming Romans in 20mm, that is the best Ancients I have seen here so far. Way to go and good to see some love for the ancients!!

And yes, the clarity of your pictures further prove the "steroids" theory:D:p:D

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. Here is a slightly different perspective which I think puts you more in the action. Yes these lads are indeed fighting fit;);)

You have made a really good job of these dio's and the subject matter makes for a pleasant change from the norm. I really like the Conte Spartans as the Battle of Thermopylae holds a fascination for me as I once spent the night camped out on the battlefield under the shadow of the monument that is erected there.

Nice. :)

Nothing primitive there, great scene!
I caved and have started getting the metal Spartans, despite being good for so long, and seeing these makes me want to go out and get more.
Please post any future set ups you decide to do, I love these figures.

Bill...Joe just sent me an email with these pictures in it...this is a really nice set up...do you have any more pics of your metal Spartans/Immortals you can post...does anybody have some more pics of the metal's they can share?

I think its very nice looking and well done Bill. Thanks for sharing this with us.
:) Mike

"Ancient"...but not "primitive"....really nice dio...and a subject with very exposure here. Thanks for sharing that...really enjoyed it.

Don't sell youself short looks like a pro set up to me.......Much better then the hack jobs i do :D

Ahh, I see you found that old thread. I would like to redo these with some better lighting and some things I have learned from folks here since then; oh and some more figures as well.;)

I've got a couple dozen of the metal Spartans. Just need to find a few more collectors with some, enough to make up, oh, I don't know, say 300?, stick 'em all together, and hey presto! we've got ourselves some of them there Hot Gates. :)
