HIRIART British Colour Parties (2 Viewers)

This is a stock photo of catalog set 1010 THE ROYAL MARINE LIGHT INFANTRY COLOUR PARTY which normally comes with an officer, one flag bearer, a bugler, and six men. The photo shows it with a second flag bearer, one colour sergeant, and no bugler. The next four photos are of the set as I ordered it with an officer, two flag bearers, two colour sergeants, and three men. I also ordered three extra men.

Where does he get his reference from?

Martin

I don't know, nor do I care. I must point out that these are meant to be traditional, glossy toy soldiers and nothing more than that. Many Hiriart sets are inspired by vintage Britains offerings, but done to a much higher standard.

A number of us supply Mike with pictorial reference sources of uniforms and equipment that he passes on to the folks at Hiriart. I wanted a khaki version of set 1245 of WWI German Schutztruppen and among a larger group of pictorial sources I provided were these:

PolarBear is correct. I was refering specifically to the British colour parties which I thought Martin's question was directed at. Many of Hiriart's sets are also based upon Osprey's Men-At-Arms colour plates, various Brandford Military Uniforms books, and World Uniforms in Colour, to name a few references. For example, I have ordered special, non-catalog sets of World War II Operation Barbarossa Hungarian and Slovak Infantry in 1941 based on Osprey's Men-At-Arms 131 Germany's Eastern Front Allies, 1941-45.

Here is another version of the 1010 set of Royal Marine Light Infantry, but this time as a present arms colour party with add-on extra figures. The second photo is of set 1023 ROYAL MARINES LIGHT INFANTRY BAND which in combination with the other sets would make an interesting display.

Here is an example of Hiriart's take on a Guards Regiment. The catalog set is 1011 SCOTS GUARDS which comes with an officer, flag bearer, and seven men as shown in the stock photo. The second photo is a non-catalog, special colour party version which includes an officer, two flag bearers, four escorts, and a bugler. It also includes two add-on sets with extra men.

I ordered a special, non-catalog colour party version of set 1064 THE GREEN HOWARDS. The first photo is a stock photo of the catalog set, the others are the colour party version that I have.

Hiriart has colour party sets representing five different Scottish Highlander regiments. These sets have five figures each: An officer, two flag bearers, and two escorts. All five photos to follow show the sets with seven figures (two extra escorts), but the standard catalog set comes with five as stated above. The first is set 1237 CAMERON HIGHLANDERS COLOUR PARTY.

That is a very nice set Mike, one of my favourite Regiments :salute::

I've just managed to pick up a large amount of Trophy Cameron Highlander sets

Cheers

Martyn:)

Thanks Martyn. Congratulations on your pick up. Although I have about 500 Trophy figures in my collection, I only have one or two each of the various regiments from the Highland Brigade. I wish I had more, but Trophy is becoming very hard to find these days. I didn't really see any at the West Coaster in March, as I mentioned before. I am not sure if there are more available in the U.K. than in the states, or whether you are a very determined collector, because you seem to always be finding and adding them to your marvelous collection.

Hi Mike and many thanks for your kind comments. The Camerons came from the US via a fellow Forum member:salute::

Both very nice sets Mike - but I think I prefer the second picture (larger set) which also shows the Grenadier Guards in an earlier Uniform, with gaiters and Slade Wallace equipment. A very nice looking outfit indeed. jb

Great set Mike, another of my favourite Regiments {bravo}}

Cheers

Thanks Martyn. It is hard to beat the appeal of the Scottish Higlander regiments. I have always had a preference for the Black Watch, but love them all.

Hi JB,

I agree that I like the larger set better, too. They just look better to me in their earlier uniform with Slade Wallace equipment, especially in a larger formation. When I ultimately order that set, I will order the non-catalog version with the SW equipment.
