I never cease to be amazed at what a change of head - and change of colour on some parts will do to a casting of a figure - and no more so than with these Camel figures by Hiriart. They are just magnificent - thanks for sharing............johnnybach

JB, you have a keen eye for those subtle head and color changes which Hiriart exploits to produce its different sets. I agree, the camel figures are magnificent. It is always my pleasure to share photos of my collection on the Forum.

On post #21, I forgot to include a photo of the entire double set of 1325 SUDANESE CAMEL CORPS, 1897.

Thank you Buster, I am glad you like them. I have all of Hiriart's mountain artillery sets with mules or oxen in my collection and, in 2009, when they came out with this set with camels, I ordered it immediately for Bob Walker and me. I have subsequently ordered four more for other collectors. Attached are two photos of what the set looks like out of its box.

I just received a request by PM asking if I could post a photo of the mountain artillery with oxen. Here is set 1261 INDIAN MOUNTAIN ARTILLERY, KHYBER PASS. I hope you like it.

Hiriart collector, John send me three photos of his camel corps column. He just moved and unpacked them. It is quite a sight with more than 50 camels from sets 1136 BRITISH CAMEL CORPS (Gray Tunics) SUDAN, 1326 BRITISH CAMEL CORPS (Red Tunics) EGYPT, and 1321 BRITISH ARTILLERY ON CAMELS, KHARTOUM.

The figures wearing blue tunics and khaki pants, most clearly visable in the third photo, are a special, non-catalog set of THE 19TH HUSSARS.

I particularly like the imaginative poses with some figures sometimes used by Hiriart, Mike. That Officer on a grey - reining in his horse and holding up his hand to halt the camel train of Artillery - is one such pose. Very nicely sculpted indeed - and just that bit different to others I've seen.. jb

JB, I too like that particular sculpt of the officer...it is one of my favorites.

Hi Mike, these are some very nicely finished sets, the massed Camel Corps are something else! Thanks for posting them. :smile2:

Thanks Jeff. You're right, it is something else. By comparison, I only have 20 camels versus the 50 plus that John has on display from those three Hiriart sets.

I know these sets have been shown but am excited to receive my first Hiriart sets and wanted to post anyway. Thanks for sending these Mike. Chris

This is a recent color variation of the Egyptian Camel Corps with what may be intended to be a British officer in regimental uniform. Hope you like them...
