Here are five different Hiriart Camel Corps sets from the period 1882 to 1898 in Egypt or the Sudan. Although these are stock photos, I have all five sets in my collection. In fact, I actually have special double sets of the first four listed, each with an officer, bugler, and six troopers.

1136 British Camel Corps (gray tunics), Sudan
1324 Egyptian Camel Corps
1325 Sudanese Camel Corps, 1898
1326 British Camel Corps (red tunics), 1882
1321 British Artillery on Camels, Khartoum [double set]

Great looking sets! In the same class as Trophy, Imperial and Somerset......

Great sets Mike. I look forward to checking out the Hiriart at Chicago.

Thanks. I saw my first Hiriart sets 18 years ago, in 1993, at the West Coaster. That was the only year Buzz Thorpe ever came out to California to my knowledge, but he is a fixture at the Chicago Show.

Buzz is one of true gentlemen of this hobby. It is always a pleasure to chat with him in Chicago, and I have always been impressed by the quality of the many Hiriart sets on display in his room.

Yes, he is. I have attended 14 out 18 Chicago Shows since 1993 and always check out the latest Hiriart offerings in his room. I am always interested in seeing what non-catalog specials that he has ordered and brought to the show. I have mentioned previously that I tried to talk him into going back to the West Coaster for several years, but to no avail. That is why I started to import Hiriart in 2005 for sale at the West Coaster since he didn't want to do it. It probably wasn't worth the expense involved for him to make the trip out here given the number of sets he would have to sell to make a profit.

Here are some infantry sets that I intend on adding to my Camel Corps column display. I may use one of Build-A-Rama's new desert backdrops, but display them in a curio on a glass shelf rather than in a diorama with sand, shrubs, and boulders .

1164 British Infantry, Sudan, 1881-1898
1209 Royal Marine Artillery, Egypt, 1882
SPEC Egyptian Infantry, 1882
SPEC Sudanese Infantry, 1898

I already have the first set while the others are on order. The last two sets are non-catalog specials.

Thank you Jeff. I particularly like the camel artillery set. I am also considering ordering a special add-on set of four camels and handlers with just the cargo boxes.
Here is another set, which I do not have, of the Yorks & Lancs, 1882, which might also make an interesting addition, but I am not sure if it would be historically accurate to include them in the column.

If I decide to display the camel corps column with the British in red tunics rather than the gray tunic version, I will use this set 1173 of Black Watch instead of the set 1164 khaki uniformed British Infantry.

I have a very nice Royal Marine Light Infantry set from the Patron collection which I purchased about 2 years ago. Great facial expressions !

Is it this the set you have? I currently have it (i.e., 1010 Royal Marine Light Infantry Colour Party) on this year's order with Hiriart with a scheduled August ship date. Do you have any other Hiriart sets?

Nubian Patrol 1898
In the months leading up to the Battle of Omdurman and the final British victory in the Mahdist Wars, two members of the Sudanese Camel Corps patrol the Nubian Desert.

The previous photos I had posted of Hiriart's Egyptian/Sudanese Camel Corps sets were either stock photos or from eBay. Attached are photos of my actual sets, all of which are special doubles where I added four extra men to the catalog set's officer, bugler, and two men. First up is special double set 1136 BRITISH CAMEL CORPS, SUDAN.
