HIRIART October 2015 Delivery (2 Viewers)

Hi Mike, I always like following these threads of yours. ^&cool.....whoever painted all these has a neat and consistent style and over the years I have come to admire the Hiriart range, even if they are gloss! :wink2:^&grin

A great thread as usual. :salute::

Hi Jeff,

I am glad you like these threads; coming from a matte collector that is a compliment. At one time, I thought that Guillermo was using an outside woman painter, but I have noticed recently that his workshop photos show the sets on his workbench with cans of paint, so I am not sure about that any more.

This is Hiriart set 1135 GRENADEROS DE SAN MARTIN, ARGENTINA for my collection. I previously posted photos of a double set 1135 that was ordered by Mark. This is one of two Latin American sets for me on this shipment. I like there colorful uniforms, but not their unusual shakos as much.

I treated fellow Hiriart collectors Fred and Gary to lunch yesterday at one of my favorite Italian restaurants in La Verne, California, called Café Allegro. I showed Fred the Hungarian L3/35 tankette resale set from the previous post and he decided to add it to his collection.

Andreas and I ordered this set 1354 KING'S AFRICAN RIFLES COLOUR PARTY, 1914 plus one extra man. Hiriart sets normally come with nine figures, but two-flag colour party sets have only eight figures.

Thanks Al---good luck. I now wish I had ordered it as a double set with 18-figures: an officer, 2 flags, 3 pipers, and 12 men.

This is one of the four non-catalog sets of NATAL CARABINEERS, ZULU WAR that was ordered for Damian, me, Michael, and resale which was included in this delivery. Gary subsequently picked up the resale set at Bob's house at our October 24th get together.

Thanks, I am glad you like it. As long as we can use the basic Natal Carabineer sculpts, I don't see a problem with making other Natal units.

Mike

Almost done. This is set 1268 US MARINES LANDING PARTY, 1900 for Tommy and me.

Interesting thing about this set is that the headdress is nearly correct . . . something you rarely find on toy soldiers of that period. The cloth cover should reach barely beyond the hat frame, with little or no drooping as you see in modern headdress. Kudos to the maker!

This is the last set in the order. It is a special double set of 1100 CAMERON HIGHLANDERS COLONIAL for me plus one for resale which Bob picked up at the October 24th get together.
