I finished my 3-foot long Cattle Drive shelf display this afternoon. I'm very pleased how it turned out. The backdrop is a poster entitled "Sagebrush Prairie Habitat w/Mountains in Background" from All Posters.com that I trimmed to size and mounted on a backboard. The base is made up of three Hudson & Allen Scenics to Go "Fallow Field" grassy basses.

Thank you very much Robin. This backdrop was one of two I finally decided on. Because my shelf is 36-inches long, I had to order a poster that was 24-inches x 36-inches. I then had to trim it to fit the height of the shelf which was approximately 11-inches tall. You should have seen what I trimmed away, lots of foreground and sky.

Thanks Oz. I've started using inexpensive posters on most of my shelf displays. Depending on the length of the shelf, I either use a 36-inch or 24-inch long poster and then trim it down to the height of the shelf. I've been very happy with the results.

Not sure what you did with the trim bits, but it might have been possible to continue the sky around the sides of the cupboard as well. I realise they would no longer go the full length from top to bottom, but it seems a waste to lose the sky and partial ground. I don’t think it would detract, but just blend in. Just a thought. Robin.

Now you just need something to fill where the backdrop wasn't quite long enough, perhaps something like printing off a resized copy of a favourite cowboy film poster or the front cover of a cowboy book.

Great idea Robin. Although I feel the sky excess I trimmed off would not have worked as you proposed, it did work quite well on a 24-inch display I have as you can see from these before and after photos.

THX Rob. As soon as they're done with their breakfast and morning coffee, the Trail Boss will have the herd rounded up and pushed out. Perhaps he will decide to steer the steers towards the rail head at Rusty Spoons.

This is an edited photo of the original. I used the AI erase feature on my Android phone to eliminate the white side panel of the shelf. AI used the background to wrap it around the side, this giving the picture depth. However, in doing so, poor Carlos lost his sombrero which was replaced with an altered hat. This AI trick works most of the time but every once in a while I can't get it to cooperate the way I want it to.
