Don't know about lying about, but I had one flying about again, above my workplace a couple of weeks ago. My unit is based a couple hundred yards from the Rolls Royce factories in Hucknall, Nottingham, and there's regularly a Spitfire that messes around at really low altitude for half an hour at a time.

Sounds and looks awesome. The downside is that I never get any work done until it clears off, and when I do start back, I've got a cricked neck.

It was low, but not THAT low! Yep, seen that one, perhaps a little close for comfort. I'd like to have sen the smile on the face of the pilot when he made that pass.

Me too, if fact I would have liked to have been the pilot. The closest I came was flying just beside some hikers below the rim of a certain Canyon at near Mach 1.

Well its looking like more than a few forum members have ordered the Hurricane and several more will be getting a Spit if one is produced.I wonder if a Spit is made whether it'll be made in bigger numbers?.

There's no doubt the German aircraft would be more popular, same as their tanks.

That hasn't been the case with the Corgi 1/32 scale according to the sales figures Spitfrnd has provided. Do you think K&C collectors will be different?

Actually, when it comes to aircraft, I believe it's the reverse. German tanks seem more popular than others but when it comes to planes, it's the British ones people like.

That is certainly not the case in Diecast 1/72, 1/48 or 1/32. There are tons of American aircraft available and more being made all the time.

I think the Spitfire is without doubt the most popular plane of WW2.As kids we all got Spitfires and Hurricanes and then got ME109'S FW190's as they were the opposition.There is a fw190 at the museum and popularity wise its not in the same leagues as the Spitfire.The Spitfire and Hurricane represent the defiance,the refusal to submit and finally the Victory over the Luftwaffe.The big difference is that many people actually come out and say they love the Spitfire,very few if any say they love a FW190 or an ME109.Perhaps its only natural as the Luftwaffe were the enemy to be defeated,but they just don't hold the same affection or admiration that RAF planes do.
