Hurricane Airfield (1 Viewer)

Great diorama. Love it. You can almost smell the 1940 atmosphere. Love the WAAF's grin in the 5 picture, it's as if the corporal standing next to her has just told her a humorous joke. All round a great show.

Love it! The ground level pic's are superb and they give the impression the dio extends for miles.

Nice shots Duke, crisp and clear, looking very real, with the impression these are a snapshot of a bigger scene.:salute::, Robin.

This is a great dio , it has a lot of depth, lots are going on and it's telling a story . All what a dio must have
well done
guy:)

Thanks everyone for the comments and likes.

Tom, I prefer to take most of my photos from a ground line level. I feel it gives the viewer the impression of actually being there in person. This dio setup in reality is actually 4' in depth from front edge to back.

Totally agree Duke, I'm going to try and get my camera lower on future dio shoots as well.

Airfields are a big challenge, particularly as the the number of models on deck multiplies. Before one knows it, the space requirements can become pretty taxing. Been working on backdrops for my BoB birds with varying degrees of success:

Clearly, the backdrops above are intended to be used with a fairly healthy foreground. I suspect that this is were my Hurricanes will end up.

For something a tad more shallow, I hacked this old belfast-hangar into shape:

If anyone would like to use any of the backgrounds, you're welcome to them. Further, I' be happy to extend tips as to how that they might be manipulated.

I do like me Spitfires, but the Hurricane would be my favorite, outstanding scene Duke!

Hope you don't mind, but here's a very short clip of a Hurricane buzzing a crowd on a hill top in the UK.......magic sound.

Thanks Kiwi... love the sound of the roaring engine as it passes over!

Congratulations, Duke :salute::
You do very nice dioramas.
Although I'm not much into WWII as a matter of interest, I do like the quality of your photos and the compositions you come up with.
Always very well done.
