Thats good news Brad, glad you came through it ok, hope all our American forum members are also ok.

Thanks Rob. When I went down to the basement last night to look for something and I touched the pipe and it was wet, I groaned and uttered a few choice words because it was an area we had waterproofed a few years ago. Fortunately, it was a very slow drip and I placed some towels there and said, "well, not much I can do," and went to bed. When I got up this morning, it wasn't overly wet so no real complaints, especially compared to what happened to Louis.

We lost power about ten minutes ago but it came back five minutes later. Compared to others, we got off lightly.

Mostly winds up here; it's pretty gusty.

Glad to hear it Brad. As I was saying to Al the other day, with heatwaves, storms and Earthquakes, you guys have had some summer this year!{eek3}

Over here we've had the normal British summer, very hot in April, sunshine and showers the rest of the summer and the odd riot:wink2:

Rainy and windy again in Toms River. No power since 10 o'clock last night. No real damage, some wind driven rain came in under my patio door. That cased a small leak in the basement. A few downed trees. iPad works, so I can watchbthe news.

The winds are actually kicking up a little here after the storm moved out. Lots of leaves in the pool which is a real pain in the arse but otherwise a non-event. We have had an earthquake, hurricane and tornado so far this summer.

We are experiencing wind gusts up to 80 km here this morning with sporadic power outages . We are located on the East Coast near the head of the Bay of Fundy
Had to cancel my golf game !

Hurry !

Power just came back on Monday at 11 am

Not much damage here. Some power still out on Cape Ann, but mine was only out for an hour and a half. Parts of Massachusetts are still w/o power but Monday AM is beautiful otside. These storms really clear the air!

Vermont has taken a real beating. Hope the water level falls fast and recovery can begin for them. Who would have thought that the storm would hurt a land locked state so far north that bad? -- Al

Upper New York State and Vermont have been hit harder than around here.

We still have quite a few streets still closed in our area and people without power, with no sign of things being resolved that quickly.

I also hear that another deadly hurricane is forming in Africa, which might be headed towards the US.

All ended up ok in MD thank goodness. Family was actually on the Eastern Shore for a wedding that went on in the middle of the Cane! Power problems have affected us more than anything(I fortunately never lose it knock on wood), but rest of County no so lucky. Little man finally has his first day of school today. We definitely dodged the bullet!

Louis, I hope you are dry by now, at least you were smarter than General Heth in the Civil War with your soldiers............you took the high ground in the house!!!

I really hope not Brad, you guys have had more than enough weather ' events' this year.

We finally have everything squared away with the flood in my basement. What a mess! The two sump pumps in the basement that run 24-7 to keep the basement from flooding from the high water table shorted out and fried the electrical socket they were plugged into (probably from being overworked during the storm, which had been downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it hit us, or things would have been even worse). Before the plumbers arrived to deal with the flood, there was a foot and a half of water in my basement. The plumbers repaired the pumps, but we had to run an extension cord across the ceiling to an electrical socket on the other side of the basement to plug them in.

Once the water was pumped out, I called the oil company to get the hot water heater and the oil burner up and running. The hot water heater was fine, but due to the water flooding into the boiler, something inside had collapsed, and the boiler could not be repaired. The new boiler is going to cost north of $7,000, so I put in a claim with my home insurer, and have my fingers crossed that the damage is covered.

I guess I am just lucky that no one got hurt, and its only money. On the bright side, if a flood was going to destroy the boiler, I am glad it happened in August instead of December. Now at least I have time to get it replaced without worrying about my family freezing in the interim.

Hope the insurance clears. The worst things about flood damage over fire is that with water your stuff is ruined AND you have to get rid of it plus gut the house and rewire etc. A fire just consumes the stuff and you get new stuff. The mourning over your old stuff might not be as bad if it's just gone. I've been lucky enough so far to escape both.

Well the worst thing abut insurance is after paying for years is what isnt covered,,afte r finding out later flood,,water dmaage is totally seperate, from homeowners ,,"limit of limit of liability " isnt the same as actual cash value,,,flood means a totally sepreate thing as homeowners,,,collections are seen as alien by adjusters ,,as is paper,,books and magazines,,"what you dont have speciallty coverage with loyds etc..?????? meaning a lot of un qualified un certified by any state adjsusters are on borrowed time when they tell you bout your non coverage,,,and they are in your living room with no roof,,while you contemplate the time to lok and load ,,,,,,,,ground zero, hurricane andrew 1992,,,survivor in the mad max world of s florida,,,

Guys,

All I have to say to you about insurance is I have Chubb, and today I received a check for the entire estimate on a brand new oil burner less my deductible.:smile2: If your insurance company is treating you differently, I would highly recommend Chubb. They were incredibly nice, responsive, polite, and paid like champs!^&cool^&cool

Irene had nothing on what we got this week. Five days of rain and counting. Widespread flooding in central PA.
