I had some exciting break through developments today...at least for me...

...I'm excited...so I thought I would share them with you...
Thanks to Dave from TMTerrain...I used a product that he recommended to me to texture my structure...
first off...let me say that Dave is being a Prince by eagerly offering consulting advice and help in doing this project...he is being so helpful and giving of his time and techniques...
Dave suggested I use Polyfilla to texture the building...as that is what he used...unfortunately...it's only available in the UK...
the problem is finding a product that will adhere to the foam securely, will allow a textured look to match JJ's stairwell and will not chip off...
so Dave suggested I try a spackle...which he thinks is the equivalent of a US product to the UK Polyfilla...
I bought a small tub of Dap Dry Dex Spackling ($5.00)...and did a small area today...it dried quickly and seems to adhere well...but what really impressed me is the ability to texture it with a trowel...I think I can get very close to the texture of the JJ's stairwell...
The Dap spackle product is pink...as it dries...it turns white as an indicator when it is fully hardened...I will post some pics when my section dries...I would make a small suggestion that anyone that wants to use it...should make their structure out of blue board instead of pink board as I did...so you can the the pink spackle easier on the blue instead of the pink...
one last thing...Dave at TMTerrain...actually makes these railings and sells them prepainted...
JJ's stairwell railing are very thin and delicate...I work with wood a lot and think I'm pretty good with it...I am not anxious to try and replicate John's small railings...look at the last pictures of the railing...they are about 1/3 the thickness of the figures leg...very small...I will probably buy them from Dave...
I may give the overall piece a very light sanding when I'm finished to remove some of the spots that I over textured...it's real important to me to match John's stairwell pretty close before painting...
