If anybody has any pics of this... (3 Viewers)

WOWZAAAAAAAA! My goodness Michael, give you some styrofoam amd some putty and away you go. A very, very nice interpretation of the original. You go guy . . . . ..
:) Mike

I got some work done today...spackled quite a bit...got all six doors done...I framed out the outside of each door with wood like Mark's model...it will be spackled to look like plastrer...

some spots may need some sanding to tone down the texture...please don't take off pints for seams...:D...I promise there won't be a seam on here when it's finished...

I decided not to do the railings myself...I think I'm pretty good with wood...but these are way more petite than anything I have done before...I ordered about 18 inches of railing from Mark (TMTerrain in the UK)...his molds are made of metal...they will be much better and sturdier than anything I can make...

while I wait for delivery...

I will paint the doors to match the railing...paint the rafters/beams too...add the balcony on the outside of the gate and build the gate itself...

I have lots more to spackle and found some really nice rafters/beams in my wood box...

Great work Mike I love following your progress along. However in a few of your photos I thought I was back in the 60's, until I realized it was reflections off the gloss table top that was making my eyes play tricks.

Thanks for the memories

Aaaaaaah...so we're finding out about the real Walt...:D

This will look just great when it is finished Michael, in fact it's just what I am looking for;):D

Cheers

Martyn:)

OH, I absolutely agree with the 3rd door being eliminated......looks a lot better with 2, especially with such wide door casings. Keep the photos of this project coming, I am enjoying following along

thanks you guys...yea Walt...you're right...I don't think I could have done a nice job on plastering the casing as close as the frames were...Mestelle asked me if that middle door was a closet...hahaha...

the casings are 2 popsickle stick glued together...I used 2 to get some definition...

I got some good work done the last two days...

I finished texturing the building...sanded the texture...painted the base coat...it will still get an ink wash and a lighter dry brush...I did a sample piece and its very, very, very close to John's stairwell...as it should be...he had sent me the Vallejo paints he used...

I painted and weathered the doors and rafter beams...also with the Vallejo paint list that John sent me to match his stairwell banisters...

I also started on the arched gate...building the casing around the gate was a kind of a pain...but everything worked out well...I'm happy with my progress so far...here's some pics...

tomorrow is a golf day...as all my friends are playing hooky from work...but I'll get back on it soon...

Now its really coming together, just shows what a coat of paint makes. Cheers, Robin.

That looks a lot different! I really like the way the timber has been finished......you are doing really well here Mike. :)

The weathering of the wood is absolutely dead on..........egad that looks realistic. Any chance you can n0te the base colors, wash colors and highlites?? I try to use that grey tone for trees as it looks much more realistic than a brown hue.

Nice once again seeing the progress of your latest venture Sir Michael. Can't wait to see the finished results an the playtime you'll feature with it once it's finished......PapaZ

You are so right about that stucco finish, gorgeous, and it is not even painted.

I tried the wood aging on poplar dowels using a variety of methods and stains, but gave up, nothing I did came close to looking right. Yours looks dead-on right. Wonderful work.

Thank you guys...

the wood has a base coat of burnt umber paint (Folk Art) and a couple of drops of black paint (Folk Art)...which turns into a very dark brown...

then a drybrush of Iraq Sand (Vallejo)...

Iraq Sand is also the base color of the structure...

Looking good Mike!
Have you tried a sample yet with the paint weathered to see how it matched with the Jenkins piece?
