I have a chance to get one of these splinter 88's at retail. I know they are HTF, But I have heard horror
stories that they do not hold up in shipping, (major breakage) Should I...
Verify with the seller its current condition and ask for extra care when packed in the box itself ^&cool

I would take a chance its a great piece.
Mine arrived damaged but i bought one on buy one get one free because of the travel prob,but well worth it in the end.

Don't worry. It was not down to shipping IMO from seeing several it was more the way that it was packed at the factory. several layers of heavy polystyrene pushed into a box. Meant to protect it caused damage. if its checked and secure and not broke its not likely it will break in transit as long as its packed in a transit box properly it is well worth getting
