Thanks for the informative post

WIll they use the current range of figures but only made of plastic? will these be new poses and figures or just plastic versions of their metal figures? does not sound good to me...pirating will skyrocket with cheap plastic versions of good figures...

But that is a scenario that could have already happened but hasn't.

I would spend FAR more on K&C if they did unpainted, injection molded plastic.

I love the look of K&C, but they are very fragile and ever more costly. When I receive damaged or mis-painted figures the fun is over before it started.

Injection molded plastic, if both rigid enough to hold a paint job yet flexible enough to not break if dropped would be ideal.

BMC Iwo Jima seems to have done OK. I would hope for somewhat more flexible plastic than BMC uses and better detail. Hard, brittle plastic is not something I'd be interested in, nor would those who would let children play with the unpainted plastics. Detailed rifles and bayonets in hard plastic are not going to do well (breakage, durability, liability) if there is hope of an expanding, overlapping market with kids.

If a less costly line is created, I can't imagine why it wouldn't serve a secondary purpose as an entry point for kids/future high dollar value purchasers into the hobby.

How many collectors here started with Marx and Airfix?

On the brass tacks side, I have a dim view of the future of the dollar. If K&C sticks to the previous production system I can easily imagine figures at $50 each in less than a few years.

If you look at the movement of the USDX dollar index over the past 10 years, I'm surprised they aren't even more than they are selling for now.

Helicopter Ben is going to break the dollar and everything produced elsewhere (especially China) is going to become shockingly expensive, IMO.

As far as a plastic line, we all know that Andy is dedicated to high quality. It's obvious from his posts on the forum that he wants to be a "Mercedes" of the toy soldier world. That means anything coming out of his shop should be pretty good. Andy is very conscious of the "cachet" of King & Country so I can imagine that he will be looking at how to produce a plastic line that enhances his primary line.

As stated, perhaps a plastic line can get some more people interested in the hobby, thereby increasing sales, thereby allowing more efficient production runs, thereby keep prices stable. But then what would we complain about?

I am one of those who started with Timmee, Marx, etc back in the "old days". They served as a "gateway drug" for my current addiction :)
