JJ Collectors Club (1 Viewer)

Thanks George
We appreciate your patience with us (For your sake thank God we're not dealing with shirtless Aussie figures:D). According to John's site it does look like you have to buy a new member figure each year:

The membership for this figure will be valid until AUGUST 31st 2010.

LT. JENKINS of THE PROVINCIALS us$30

No problem, looks like I was off base on this one and it is a year by year membership.

Based on the early returns from my customers, I doubt if anyone will give up their membership once they start it, but I guess in the end it's up to the collectors as to what they prefer.

Bottom line is you guys are the ones who drive the bus on collecting, so thanks to all of you for your enthusiasm.

And yes, thank God no shirtless Aussies in this bunch or any bunch from John..............

My advice is just to buy them all. That will simplify the process. ;)

Please, if I may ask

I collect JJD figures ... so I would like to be a JJD Club member. However I am not sure what other benefits come with a membership.

I dont collect the BoM range .. so if possible, I would not get the first annual club figure.

If any member could later "order" any number of the subsequent regular club figures ... and If there was such a club figure which I am interested in .. say a 1812 British personality, could I then request my dealer to "piggy back" my order along with that of other members ... or even the dealer's own membership.

Grateful if one can clarify ...

OD

Probably the only way you could get what you wanted is if any member has more than one membership they could sell you their extra or if they didn't want a particular club set they could order it for you.Myself I don't collect 1812 but I would order it for you.Another way is for you to buy the Jenkins figure then you would be eligible to any club set in the next year.If you didn't want the Jenkins figure you could sell it.There will be someone who wants this figure but for whatever reason didn't join.

What Mark said, but you don't need more than one membership to order as many club sets as you want. The difference in having say 1 membership verses 2 memberships is that with 1 membership you have to prepay for the additional sets if ordering more that one of the current set. With 2 memberships you can order two of the currently offered set and not be billed until shipped.

So if you prepaid a member to order a set for you, then that would work.

But like Mark said, for 30$ you get a figure that will only increase in value and right to buy any of the club sets offered in the next 12 months.

The benefit is that only with a membership can you buy 1 or as many as you want of the currently offered club set. The dealers will have no stock of their own of these sets.

The way I understand it, its one Collectors' Club set per membership and not as many as you want.

Lenswork is right. You can preorder the first set but you must PREPAY any additional sets. That's what it says on the Jenkins website.
Mark

I'm pretty sure with only one purchase of Lt. Jenkins.........

you are a full memeber.......

and are allowed to order as many future offerings as you want............

as long as you prepay for them.

In 2010.....you repeat the process......

buy one special set again.............

and your membership is renewed....

allowing you to buy as many sets of his that are issued but you have to prepay for additional ones again.

So far the club figures appear to be personality driven which is great in my opinion. If that remains the case, not sure there will be much need to buy multiples. Regardless, I think Mike is right - if you buy one Lt. Jenkins figure at $30 then you can prepay for as many future multiple club figures or sets as you want (for one year). I would not worry about John refusing to take your money if you want multiples.;)

These are some excerpts from an email from John on 8/28/2008.....

Its a Club, so to join and become a member you get the Lt. Jenkins figure.

The specific Club sets have to be available to members only. I think you would agree on this?

Your question of "what if you want to buy multiples of a specific set", is a good question, and I have thought about it.

Normally in any series I would have made the sets that people would buy multiples of as part of the general release, and the Club sets would then be specific personality or one of a kind sets.

With the Monongahela series the requests have been for more 44th Line Infantry. I dont plan on making any 48th.

You are correct in that this will mean that if I offer a firing line pose, everyone will want multiples.

Really the Collectors Club should only be for 1 off pieces, but as you have correctly observed there is still a market for multiple sets that should have normally been part of the general release.

I believe what he is saying........

Is that mandatory collector pieces purchased for membership......

would only be the types of sets that you would buy one of.......

or "one off sets"......

like celebrities or flag bearers....

if he releases something you might want multiples of.........

for example a firing line.....or marching line.......

it will be as a general release......

and pre-orders will dictate the amount produced......

unlimited in production as specified by us.....the pre-orderers.

What a marvellous idea, I'm really looking foward to receiving Lt Jenkins and the Halkets. Already, the good chaps at TMT are taking orders from UK collectors so I'm sure with a good following wind this venture will be a success.

IMHO releases should be limited to personality figures only and I think John is bang on the money in suggesting marching and firing lines and alike are best left to the normal release schedule.

JJD goes from strength to strength and I'm happy to post that I reached my century of figures last week with the addition of the latest Jacobites and some Indians.

More power to yer' elbow John.

Hi guys,
A good concept from JJ.
It will be interesting to see how many are made after the pre-order period ends. Prices are good.
BOM little known down here in Oz and not that popular relative to the other JJ ranges but the Halket pair is a very nice item in itself and pre-orders already coming in.
This one is going to be a hot one for the "speculators" as very limited. No doubt some will be joining the club through multiple dealers.
Pity John didn't go for the shirtless Aussie figure, although would be difficult since Australia didn't get started until after 1776.
Regards
Brett

What is the John Jenkins Collector Club?

The Collectors' club is an opportunity for the collectors of John Jenkins figures to purchase special sets which will be only available to Members.

The first piece which will be available this September as the JJD MEMBERSHIP Club FIGURE 2009, will also be an interesting personality piece for collectors of "The Raid On St. Francis" series. The figure could also be used as an officer in the Virginia Provincial Regiment, and added to the Monongahela displays.

The membership for this figure will be valid until August 31st 2010.

Your membership will be managed by the March Through Times.

You can purchase as many membership Collectors Membership Club Sets as you wish.

Members only will be given the opportunity to purchase "SPECIAL CLUB SETS". Please note these sets are strictly limited to members only.

The JJCLUBSET #1 will be the first Special Club Set

There will normally be a 30 DAY PREVIEW PERIOD.

After the 30 DAY PREVIEW PERIOD, the Special Club set will be offered to MEMBERS ONLY, for PRE-ORDER, for a period of 30 DAYS.

Members may order more than 1 set, but are required to PRE-PAY for the extra sets.

There will be a MINIMUM PRODUCTION TARGET. If the Minimum Production Target is not achieved the item will not be produced.

At the end of the 30 DAY PRE-ORDER PERIOD. If the pre-order totals exceed the Minimum Production Target. The item will be produced.

The number of pre-orders received in this time will be the LIMITED EDITION of that special Club set.

Production of the special club set may take 30-90 days.

Any word on what the second collectors set will depict?
