JJD...WB...Heritage with new Manes Marzano Dervish figure pictures... (1 Viewer)

I just got these Manes Marzano Dervish yesterday and had promised a few Froggers some pictures for a closer look and also some pictures for a comparison to the Mahdist offered by JJD, WB and Heritage...

they were supposed to be delivered in December...but just arrived...no fault to the dealer...they shipped them immediately after receiving them from the manufacturer...

they are advertised to be compatible with JJD and WB...in my opinion...they foot the bill...there are some distinct differences in style of course...and in painting also...but in size, height and girt...they are very close

I really like them and think they are lovely and very unique figures...

one thing that struck me about them...is their faces...they seem very soulful to me...very expressive...the sculpting and painting of the faces gives them a very passionate lifelike quality...especially the Bedouins in turbans with the flag and rifle...just my opinion...

they come in a little treasure chest style box with a cool little latch...the box is just too cool...

Very nice Mike, they go nicely with all three but I think a smidgen better with WB as they seem a more slender figure like WB is. As a massed grouping though nobody would notice..........Hurry and get them all set up and ready to FIGHT !!!

Scott...you are spot on...I do agree...they seem to mix better with the taller, slimmer WB figures...but generally...I think they work pretty darn well with all 3 manufacturers...they are such interesting figures...

Thanks Mike, yes they appear to blend in well, tempted I must say. The box is too good, rather simple packaging which I throw away, no room to store boxes. Cheers, Robin.

I can see why you were pleased when opening the Treasure Chest they came in Michael an as you've stated they blend in very nicely with all of the others. Both you an Scott have a point when refering them to the WB figures. Now looking forward to seeing them at play...............PapaZ

Joe...that was my original opinion...I have looked at them much closer now..having time to study them...and I sincerely believe they go very well with all 3 manufacturers...I would not hesitate to recommend them to any manufacturers collector...the skin tone contrasts with the Heritage...but is very close to the WB and JJD...

Super looking figures Michael, and like everyone else I too think the box is cool ^&cool looking. They look like they will be very formable foes against your British troops.

Michael:

As you know, I am fond of several manufacturers and enjoy mixing figures that are compatible. I think it adds so much variety and possibilities for a dynamic diorama. It is interesting that whether JJD, WB, Heritage (or several others not mentioned here), the postures and expressions of the figures are clearly unique to the sculptor, each one bringing one more dimension to the dioramas with the variety of expression that they offer. The Manes Marzano do have particularly expressive faces and I think make a nice contribution to your collection and, no doubt, forthcoming diorama.

The only Manes Marzanos I have are much older Naps (French Grenadiers), and I like them for many of the same characteristics of this set, but all I got was a red and blue cardboard box!! I am writing them and asking for an upgrade!!

The figures blend well with the other figures....but I think the wooden set box is truly a piece of art...that is the nicest box I have seen for a set before!!
