John Jenkins Treasure Hunt 2016 - Chicago Toy Soldier Show (1 Viewer)

Fantastic. Thanks so much for posting the photo of the upcoming Royal Ecossaie figures. John has given his Jacobite Rebellion collectors something great to look forward to.

Since we did have a few less Dealers this year the French Ecossaie figures for the Jacobite Rebellion series were not part of the hunt. These figures will be available early next year as well!

....WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-WOW-^&grin ^&grin ^&grin....

...they are superb looking.....sign me up for the whole lot!

Like another member said, I wonder how they'll be sold, as I have a couple of JJD Ambulances needing crew and a couple of non JJD, Baron de Percy's Wurst's too, just need a few medic's. !
Steve

I don't think that it will be Löwenhardt's because JJD had also produced his Albatros.
It would be great to get Carl Degelow's from Jasta 40 https://ixquick-proxy.com/do/spg/show_picture.pl?l=english&rais=1&oiu=https%3A%2F%2Ffarm8.staticflickr.com%2F7558%2F15959999628_0d1c9a7985_b.jpg&sp=bdd6008d8714ce31a203d23b533310e4 or one of the Berthold' boys, Jasta 15 http://img.wp.scn.ru/camms/ar/111/pics/59_20.jpg

Ooooh, the model looks like a "getter" and a "keeper," another subject for the GGC sets to service.:D

The engine detail is very impressive.

If JJ isn't careful, he's gonna end up with a full time job making model airplanes.

As to possible subjects, Lowenhardt's and Udet's were both good looking aircraft. However, both of those esteemed personages have already been immortalized in resin and pewter!

I don't believe that Werner Voss ever graced the cockpit of a D.VII.:(
Betcha Al can posit some reasonable alternatives.:salute::

My apologies for never addressing the question of Werner Voss. Voss died in combat in September 1917 (in one of the first 2 Fokker triplanes sent to the front. One to Voss, one to von Richthofen). The first Fokker D-7's didn't make it to the front until May 1918. Like Voss, von Richthofen never flew the D-7 in combat either, dying in action on April 21, 1918, just days before the D-7's started arriving at the front. -- Al

John sends his many Thanks to everyone who took part in this year's Treasure Hunt!
I had fun (evidence in this thread ) and hope everyone else did too!

Since we did have a few less Dealers this year the French Ecossaie figures for the Jacobite Rebellion series were not part of the hunt. These figures will be available early next year as well! Even more to look forward to in addition to the other 7 sets we all had.

AND once all Dealers have drawn their winners that will be listed in this thread as well.
Zach just won a Dealer who was on the ball a bit more than the rest of us -- I have found all my slips and will draw a winner on Monday for the Treefrog Conestoga wagon.

"Little Julie" was not up for winning and she may need to continue her adventures at other upcoming Shows!

Happy Friday everyone!!!
Julie

Thanks for the pic, Julie.
These 9 Ecossaie figures are a wonderful sculpted group, and I will be patiently waiting for the releases of the painted ones ;-)
A nice variety of poses.
John's output, creativity and quality is absolutely amazing.

Hi,
Do you think the Grenadier's are French or British?

Thanks

Pete

....I believe they represent Royal Ecossais grenadiers....and judging from the poses, I wonder if we will be further spoiled with future grenadier figures in a 'firing' pose...

...I'm interested in finding out if the kilt on the NCO will be in the Drummond tartan...

Well, some very interesting items coming from JJD.I'm surprised the NCO of the Royal Ecossais is wearing a kilt(even a Drumond one-Lord John Drumond was their commander). They were a regular French unit, and ,although they swapped their tricornes for blue highland bonnets while in Scotland, they retained their French uniforms.

Was not sure about the kilted sergeant either Rene Chartrand mentions that the grenadiers of the Royal Ecossais had kilts but says he has found no evidence of this(OspreyMAA304) - maybe artistic licence

Is the NCO wearing a great kilt or just a philibeg (small kilt)? Can't tell from the photo. I'm hoping it's the great kilt like John has used on the other Highland figures in this series. Don't believe the small kilt was much in fashion yet in the 1740's.

...you certainly have a good eye for the small details ! :)

...as one who (unsurprisingly) wears a kilt when the occasion is appropriate, it's affy fine ti wear een..

..there's nothing more guaranteed to start an animated 'discussion' than the topic about the origins of the philibeg... :)

WOW is right! These are great poses. I wonder how hard these figures could be to be converted to fit in w/ to Ticonderoga. That Sgt. w/ the kilt would be easy but did the highlanders/Black Watch wear pants in the FIW? I believe the Black Watch wore trewes in the Rev War - long white pants w/ white gaiters.

Anyway, still looking for more Ticonderoga figures for the future.

Many thanks to all collectors and dealers who participated in this years Treasure Hunt.
And thanks to Julie…..

Best regards

john
