Brad,

I had no idea they were coming!!! The only thing I looked into is the Dallas v Bronco pre-season game Aug 28th...yes I am a Boo-Hoo Bronco fan. Tickets are $150 bucks.

John,

It's part of this International Champions Cup, which is basically part of the exhibition season for the European teams. Real will play AS Roma in Dallas on July 29. I'm guessing tickets are $160, because that is the price for Liverpool vs. Manchester City at Yankee Stadium a day later. Now, if RM were coming here, I would pay that but I'm not doing that for a team I don't support.

I'll never forget that day since I was a 8 year old boy living in the DC area and totally in the "I'll be an astronaut when I grow up" phase! Couldn't blink while watching the TV. Unforgettable moment in my life.... Have the Washington Post edition of the moon landing hanging in a frame on my office wall; I guess that says it all! :wink2:

I was like you.All I thought about was being an astronaut.I'll never forget that day.Oh yeah I didn't become a astronaut,I'm afraid of heights.{eek3}{eek3}^&grin

I was living in Bethesda at the time, so we wouldn't have been too far apart. At the time my TS collection consisted of my father's old Britains from the '30's and several hundreds of Marx ACW and WW2 soldiers. You shouda called.^&grin -- Al

Al,
I was living in Chevy Chase! In those days it would`t be more than a 15 minute drive. I can`t recall the brand of my plastic toy soldiers, but I simply loved them. Used to spend hours in the backyard making bunkers and trenches and playing endless battles... Miss those good ol`days! :rolleyes2:

My gosh! Those are same-same towns. They butt up against each other. Streets like Bradley Blvd. would be Bethesda on one side and Chevy Chase on the other. What street were you on? I lived on Hampden La., off Arlington Rd. Like you, I spent hours in the dirt, building bunkers and trenches. Turned a complete corner of the backyard into a grassless battlefield, honeycombed with trenches, shellholes, etc. It was a grand time to be a kid. -- Al

I used to live in Woodbine St. and attended Rollingwood Elementary. Lived there for 8 years! Moved back to Brazil in the early 70`s.

The moon landing was one of the the great events in human history. My grandmother was born seven years after the Wright Brothers flew and lived to see it. The pace of the development was astounding.

It is always sad to see an achievement like this fall victim to pettiness. It is an achievement that all Americans can feel justly proud of regardless of the contribution of others. It is a story of human greatness. I cannot say the same about German rockets or the cause for which their inventors laboured.

I remember Woodbine st. It is off Connecticut Ave., near East-West Hgwy. It was out of my area as a kid but I had friends in that neighborhood when I was in B-CC High School. Glad to know you are an old B-CC area refugee.:wink2:^&grin^&cool -- Al

Gents,

Now isn't that cool. I started this random little thread by just being silly. Then come to find out that lancer and sentaapua lived blocks from each other when they were kids. Now THAT is too cool and show what a small world we live in.

Gents,

Now that the rape of the world debate is over and the moon landing hoax has been put to rest. I wanted mention that I wasn't born yet, but uh...what was going on on this day you bunch of smarty parties. Since some of you were "there".

Was barely out of nappies, but remember the folks glued to the B&W telly and everyone being very excited about a chap wearing a very large white suit, standing in what looked like the desert at night-time. Apparently I kept asking where were all the Indians and why people we speaking funny....^&grin

Im pretty similar to Toddy, barely out of nappies (if I was even wearing them at the time! {eek3}) and apparently after checking with my parents (my memory of this period is almost non-existent!) I watched the black and white idiot box and saw those strange looking blokes jumping around that strange looking place that looks to be made out of corn flower!

Mike,

In Dallas...and went to Pappas Steaks last night. Had the Akaushi Steak...a mix of angus and kobe...phenomenal. Terrible au gratin potatoes and one more odd thing. They threw a half saw cut bone on my plate with the marrow and parmesan cheese. Never had that before and for a pretty classy joint with a dress code and all I was a little grossed out. Has that ever happened to you? I have never had the bone thrown on my plate before with the marrow cooked in it.

The wife and I split a 3.5 lbs lobster-steamed with the butta sauce...dayum that was good and came back with a 1/4 lb slice of cheese cake baked in Houston and driven daily to Dallas....so they say!

Bill was $275 and I expected higher. The kobe beef alone was $99 for four ounces, but I have already had kobe in Japan and wanted to try the hybrid kobe and angus and it was **** good. Creamy spinach dish was good, but the bread and potato soup was to die for.

AND probably the best looking hostesses ever. Well, I am in Dallas.

John in Dallas

PS: Ate horse in Japan and didn't know it until afterwards...ate balute [sic] in the Philippines...I know I had dog and cat in Korea...I just know it...ate mystery tuna in Saudi with goat cheese...ate Blow Fish sushi and am still alive...AND when I came home on leave once I ate 12 enchiladas with a dozen avocados and slept afterwards for 15 hours.

John...

I love everything the Pappa Brothers outfit does...

Pappasitos...Papadeauxs...Pappas Seafood...Pappas BBQ...Pappas Burgers...

especially Pappasitos and Pappas BBQ...

I never had a bad meal at any of their locations...

I even like their Luby's cafeteria chain...just wish I never bought the stock...

those Greek boys do it up good...

the roasted bone marrow is becoming a trendy delicacy...I have not had an opportunity to try it yet...but it's becoming more popular in the States now...I think you scoop out the marrow with your knife...

soooooooooooooooo...

you sounds pretty adventerous on your eating habits...

did you eat it and was it good?

gotta admit...

it doesn't look very appetizing...

but you never know...

Mike,

It was just a blob of grease with parmesan cheese on it. All I could think about was how we used to give these bones to our dogs when we were kids and our dogs doing everything they can to get at the marrow. So, I got the $100 steak on my plate and a side of a half cut dog bone. Other than that the meal was outstanding. I must of missed the whole delicacy thing. However, the hot hostesses did tell us caviar was $275 an ounce. Too rich for my blood. Oh, yes love the Pappasitos and tried to take Helen there was she was here but it was too late as she had already gone to HK.

I try to find humor in everything bro...speaking of...did you guys ever get all that seaweed cleaned up over there?

Juancho
