Re: June 2009 Dispatches

These without any doubt are some of the best Reb cavalry that I have ever seen that's been available to collectors-especially the fellow who is about to mount up-that has got to be the coolest darn pose for a JEB Stuart cavalryman yet-Sensational and all eight are top of my list of must and will haves.

Hey Ron-and I cannot see a single patch on their pants either!!!

Reb

I was hoping for some cannon, but if I can't have those, these will certainly do. I'll def. be looking forward to mid-July!!

I spoke with a Dealer friend of mine today. He told me his phone was ringing off the hook. I too think this might be the best Dispatch in recent memory.

I love the Canadians , the Bunker and especially the SL Hitler set. Fantastic. And truly the ACW Calvary look fantastic. I particularly like the one trooper mounting up. I may buy one or two of those as well.

Andy - Great dispatch -

Wikipedia has a nice diagram of the July 20 room:

Here's a photo of the intact end of the map table showing the tapered but very robust legs:

Will you provide transport for the Brits and Canadian Infantry...AEC Matador & the CWT15?

Re: June 2009 Dispatches

I think Andy has hit a home run with the pending July release of the 8 Confederate cavalry. To release them with a second set later in the year is a grand slam. Rebel cavalry by and large has never been represented too strongly in the pewter 1/30-1/32 toy soldier genre. I think Britains 1st Virginia Cavalry 2003-2006 are good as is the Frontline Figures Confederate Cavalry. The dismounted figures that Alan Silk and Guard Corps Ltd sold in the 1990's were quite nice. Rebel cavalry purists are drooling, however, over the July releases and rightfully so. They combine incredible Esprit d' Corps uniforms some excellent circa 1861-63 style with the tremendous quality of King and Country that sets them apart from most manufacturers. I hope the secondary release is as exciting as the July figures...perhaps we will get some dismounted figures since the Guard Corps figures are rarer than hens teeth and Paul Clarke's Shenandoah Miniatures figures have not hit the market yet. Hopefully then will we get a wave of some solid dioramas to depict some of the great Rebel Cavalry clashes: Ride around McClellen, Brandy Station, Yellow Tavern and Trevilian Station. I myself am busy gathering the pieces needed to depict all four of those clashes that helped define the excellence of the Confederate Cavalry in the Eastern Theatre. A rather lengthy first post but its good to be on board sharing ideas and thoughts. And soon I hope some incredible dioramas for me a specialized collector: just Confederate Cavalry. I split this addiction with my love for vintage table hockey games so I hope there are more JEB Stuart fans out there to converse with.

Re: June 2009 Dispatches

After seeing the Confederate Cav. I definitely got the Civil War itch. To make matters worse I bought a $800 dollar curio cabinet for $50. Only had to replace a piece of glass which only cost me $125. I'm thinking of making 1/2 the cabinet Civil War and the other 1/2 AWI.

Thats good news on both accounts. Always look forward to Commonwealth releases but I need some time to catch up on what's already available, especially from this summer's new lineup and potentially Arnhem in the fall. :)

Re: June 2009 Dispatches

Rob: Any insight into Andy's plannned 2nd release this fall/winter of Confederate Cavalry? Number of troopers? Dismounted or mounted? Dedicated to a specific unit? Virginian's, Texas, western or eastern theatre? Sabres, carbines, double barrelled shotguns? You know the usual questions. Regards, Jeff

Hey Jeff,

Sorry i've no info on that one,i guess they are being kept well under wraps for now.I don't collect the ACW (so many choices and only a limited budget i'm afraid:rolleyes:)but those new ACW cavalry look really good, don't often see figures mounting up,very nice indeed.

Yes mate you are spot on.K&C do tend to release their WW2 at a certain time each year. We've had D Day in June/July/,hopefully Arnhem in September/October and then probably Bulge November/December.
