K&C Jagdtiger WS180 (2 Viewers)

Towards the end of the war every German soldier was dressed in the outfit he could lay his hands on .
I have pictures of tank commanders even wearing Kriegsmarine jackets and leather motorcycle long coats , a mixture of Heer and SS clothing items, exercise uniforms, para jackets, etc ...;
guy:smile2:

Not really. For video proof, check out the Albert Ernst Jadgtiger surrender video in Iserlhon. Very sharp unis and all if not most in black wraps and some HBT pieces over the black.

Egonzinc,

Guy is correct about German uniforms and uniformity at the end of the war. Your video simply shows one unit
wearing similar clothing.I have seen many examples in books, video, etc. showing a mixed array of uniform clothing
used by the Germans. Keep in mind they would also use Allied gear whenever found and needed as well.

Look at this picture from Panzerabteilung 101 taken at Beauvais late May 1944
scannen0001.jpg
from left to right :
SS Untersturmführer Willy Iriohn wearing a leather jacket handed down from the Kriegsmarine drill tousers and the service uniform Schirmmütze,
SS Sturmbahnführer Hein von Westernhagen, the battalion commander, wearing the 1943 camouflage tunic and the 1940 model officers black cap with aluminum wire piping
SS Obersturmführer Hanno Raasch who is wearing a grey green motorcyclist's raincoat and the same type of cap
The officer on the right is unidentified butas far as his uniform is concerned........... !!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Guy. Late in WWII German uniform and equipment shortages were rife. Panzerwaffe wore whatever was available. Sturmartillery crews wore black when grey was unavailable. Camouflage uniforms were worn when available by all branches. Availability ruled!

It would be extremely rare though to see a Heer panzer soldier/officer wearing SS camo, very much the exception, even towards the end of the war.

There are good pictures of Captain Rudolf Rennecke of Fallschirmjager regiment 3 at Monte Cassino wearing an SS smock, which is very interesting, but again, most unusual.

The sSSpzAbt 101 is an SS unit. I did not say there were no variations, I'm familiar with this image having modelled in in 1/6, but it was not common to have a Heer unit with SS camo. That is my point.

I have a photo saved of a Heer Panzer soldier wearing dot 44 pea dot camo.Let me find and share it.
Of course Heer with SS camo occured but not very often seen.

I've checked my set, both guys in front Left and Right are identical, same hats etc. I wonder if K & C changed the figures at some stage.

I decided to get the set and will check the figures myself once it arrives. The images show two different figures in the driver and mg/radio hatches. We'll see...
The K&C item number starts with WS. IIRC the WS code is for SS vehicles and figures.
There were about 80 Jagdtigers produced and were assigned only to two heer heavy tank hunting units, the 512 (of Otto Carius and Albert Ernst fame) and the 653.

Matt,

On my set the two front crew are different including their caps

Even different sizes and headset positions and markings on uniforms

I purchased my set last year to replace one I had sold several years ago. I recall my original set had the Two different figures, I didn't notice the difference until I read this thread, maybe I have a rare special edition ha ha.

My WS180. Has 2 différent drivers

Matt,

Always good to have something different and now even more reasons to do some great weathering and make it really unique

Not going to happen mate {eek3} ^&grin These models aren't cheap and Tri colour/Normandy is my favourite anyway ^&cool

Mine had the two different figures for the driver and MG/radio position, and all look to have Heer markings, despite the SS camo on the commander.
They also decided to go with field gray on the sidecap and M43s. Field gray is fine, but I would have preferred black.
Very happy with the piece, very heavy!
