Headphones guy looks like he is wearing SS splinter by the looks of it but cannot be sure until I see it.
Panzer lehr did not serve in Italy as far as I know but will check it out. they were not formed until 1944 out of the German teaching schools hence the name as Lehr means 'learn' or 'teacher'. Regardless of my German language inabilitythey would have been too late for the Italian campaign.
Still maybe binos guy had a brother serving in Italy who posted them up to him or maybe his mum bought the material on a day trip to Milan after she popped into Armani for the pre Christmas sale and knocked him up a pair of trousers as a Christmas present. These no doubt would have been delivered by Father christmas Sepp!!!:)
 
LOL i like your explanations. they seem very convincing to me.

You're right that Panzer Lehr never served in Italy but maybe Binocular guy was an officer who did and then was transferred to Lehr taking with him his designer Italian gear. :)

I don't profess to know what you guys know but towards the end of the Normandy campaign, the Germans were being chewed up thoroughly. Is it possible that just as the English did the Germans had to put a few disparate units together?

Yeah possibly Binos and Headphones man got lost after a heavy night on the pop and ended up with a Wermacht unit or maybe just maybe K&C just got it wrong again? Surely if they were SS they would have been sent to another SS unit?:)

One thing you can say about late war German equipment is that all things are possible.

Still it may have been easier to just paint a Panzer Lehr gun crew in a wehrmacht camo.

I'm not knocking the set as it looks great, just not sure of the reasoning behind the SS gear thats all.
Will probably buy it although the cost of the SdKfz 251 set will be horrible over here in the UK compared to the USA. So guess that one will be out of the window. K&C UK want £170 inc of VAT whereas if you convert $199 US price to £ it comes to £107 approx. I don't care if VAT is added in the UK - its only 17.5% not 117.5% - somebody is making a killing out of us lot here on those prices.
 
I agree its a big layout,but it sure does look good.I suppose it comes down to just how much you want it in your collection,can't resist it i'm afraid!.Like the motor bike and the assault gun to.I also think the u.s stuff is good to,especially the jeep ambulance.

Its mind over matter Rob, I did not get the Greif for the same reason (inflated price) and it has made no difference to my life funnily enough. Fortunately I can get to the USA quite often and get these normal production runs at a normal price. If the UK market was open like the USA there is no way we would have to pay these prices. With the prices fixed as they are we don't stand a chance here in the UK:(
 
We do pay higher prices in general over here in Britain. Not just toy soldiers. Food, petrol , clothes. You name it and we pay higher for it.

As far as K&C goes the europeans pay a high price too. I guess it comes from being a much smaller market than the US.

I have tried ordering K&C from the US in the past but by the time you factor in postage and import duties you are looking at a price comparable to what we pay in the UK anyway.

I'm going to buy these releases anyway. I really like them and am not that excited by the prospect of the forthcoming eastern front Germans and more Russians.

I'm sure they were mentioned as coming later in the year but I may be wrong as i often am. :)

the news on ws series look goods, maybe a tank for strictly limited it would have been better of another command car, great the howitzer and the sidecar

Going on from what Red Devil says.

Well I'm going to pick up the halftrack in the USA, $199 or £170? Fortunately, I do a lot of travelling so it looks like $'s for me.

Just as an aside, lets do a conversion at $1.8 to the pound.

K&C Halftrack in USA = £110.56 which equates to 59% of the UK price

Britains new PAK Figure Set $117 in USA which equates to £65.00. The same figure in the UK is £69.00. Which gives the US price at being 94% of the UK Price.

(prices are quotes from Treefrog, Peter Dale (UK), K&C UK)
