It seems this King & Country Forum is over run with WWII Collectors !

Now I have WWII figures, planes and vehicles in my collection as well - but my FIRST LOVE is NAPOLEONICS !!

So I have decided to start our own thread - A K&C NAPOLEONIC THREAD - free of the wa,wa,wa of those WWII guys LOL

Come on - Napoleonic Collectors - Chime In and lets us discuss the real art of King & Country.

I was very happy to receive in the mail this week the latest releases of the Napoleonic French figures from King & Country. I was horribly behind on picking these up - especially the new Napoleonic figure !

But, that has been resolved and we are up to date with our French Napoleonic Collection. One of the interesting things in the Cannon Set was the DETAIL OF THE FRENCH GUN ! It was amazing ! Loved it !

I'm a WW2 collector too, but I'll bite on your thread, as I've always really admired the K&C Napoleonics. So let me ask you this, if I were to start a K&C Napoleonics collection (which I really want to do), what five pieces do you recommend I start my collection with?

I wanted to share my new Napoleonic Display with you guys - I have the bust of Napoleon in there - which I actually picked up in Berlin back in Jan.

The Artillery Sets are simply great ! I was glad to see Andy sell the howitzer as a single unit - I hope he does the same with the large French Gun - it is beautiful and I would certainly like to have more of them !!

The Artillery figures in these sets are full of action and make a very exciting display when put together.

If you are just collecting for the fun of it and not really trying to get all the way into the range - I would pick up these 5 :

1) NA 199 - Napoleon (must have)

2) NA 87 - Scots Grey / Sgt. Ewart Set (a great deal still for $109 - Mounted figure with 2 other figures in the set!)

3) NA 124 - Cantiniere (cool wine girl ! and only $25.00)

4) NA 110 - French 45th Line Standing Firing (still only $25.00 each)

5) NA 191 - Saving the Boy - British (great two person figure - $59.00)


SPECIAL PICKS : NA 33 - Marching French 45th Flagman (only $39.00)

NA 58 - Marching French Old Guard Flagman (only $39.00)

Thanks Ron. These are great choices. On more question. Part of my enjoyment of collecting WW2 figures is all the historical content (e.g., movies, documentaries, books) you can dive into. What short list of similar content can you recommend for Napoleonics?

When I started to collect Naps at the beginning of this year, I wanted some immediate visibility, so the first 5 sets I got were

NA158 (SL) Napoleon and his Generals
NA087 Scots Grey Seizing the Colour
NA082 Seated French Cavalry - 5 pcs
NA098 British cannon and crew
NA149 Russian canon and crew

I think all of these are still available from dealers or as buy it now on e-bay at original retail if the stores don't have any left. IMO a good base for a NAP collection

I would like to get NA026 Mounted Napoleon and Mamelke Servant - but that is an old set and probably very expensive.

I definitely have to agree with the British cannon and crew. That's about the nicest (and most affordable) set I've seen from K&C, regardless of the range.

When did you get the Guards Artillery Set? That one has been retired for a while

I got it from TF just after it retired was there last set,last year i think.

Glad people are posting their Napoleonic Collections - such a refreshing change of pace from the blah, blah, blah of WWII - LOL

Sgt. Rock - give me sometime to think about what would be my 5 favorite books and authors - Chandler is a must - but there are others. I also find that the OSPREY BATTLE BOOKS of the Napoleonic Age are really great and interesting. Osprey is a valuable resource for all periods.

You can still find many retired Napoleonic items out there at or even below retail - just have to look hard.

Don't forget that Del Prado figures are a great filler with Napoleonic Battle scenes and are fun to collect with your King & Country figures.

You got a great collection Ron...how long have you been acquiring Naps..or any figures for that matter...

He probably won't be acquiring too much more as I believe this range is being retired in favor of making more Arnhem figures

That would have been true until recently until I recently started collecting NAPs. I think there now will be more NAPs released than before, and likely at the expense of Arnhem, although I don't think they will drop the Arnhem line entirely. Besides, haven't most of the possible Arnhem figures already been made?

Napoleonics are still my favorite.
I have been asking Andy for years to consider more French line infantry (Fusiliers), perhaps in great coats, to form columns in attacking the British lines.
WWII and the Crusades range are also favored in my collections.

For color, mass and a blend of arms (cavalry, artillery and infantry) the Napoleonic range stands out.
