Anyone else in the UK had their letter regarding Easy Save whereby you can set up a monthly Direct Debit to K&C UK in the belief that this will help you maintain your spending with them?

A gimmick or not? If I had access to the company accounts I could then make an informed decision as to whether or not this was a safe proposition.

Also the first line did make me smile.

'Here at K&C UK we are aware of the rising costs of the Toy Soldier hobby especially in this current economic climate.'

You should be aware. You set the prices.

That seems very odd. Reminds me of the old fashioned department store lay away .

With all due respect, I think your (not Terry's) comments are a teeny bit harsh. I've used a lay away a couple of times at other dealers and, as far as prices go, it's not as if they are arbitrarily setting them. I assume this will now set off a discussion about prices.

I can understand lay away for a very expensive model or an issue which will instantly sell out. But for most items why do it?

Terry

I don't see this as a problem really. I think it is a clever business move by K&C and, will probably bring in more sales. The question that immediately sprung to mind is do you get the products before or after payment as that seems to be a risky move to give out goods before full payment.

Terry...

If you buy a lot then it would be a good idea across all product prices and not just for the expensive items

seriously!?

We have a number of customers who pay a bit at a time for more expensive or larger orders or even single figures. This has been the way EVEN when a figure retailed in the UK for £15! not just because they are more expensive nowadays. We thought as this happens already we would open it up to others. As in america its called lay away, my wife saves monthly with a christmas voucher scheme. This is nothing other than giving the collector another option.

I even remember when i was 14 and i saved for my first race bike with a bike shop! I could not afford the £200 out right but went in weekly with pocket money, birthday money and paper round money and paid it to their saving scheme!!! whats new with what we are doing???

Regards figures first or money first. In the UK we would have to have a credit agreement set up for the goods to be given before full payment. This then requires customers to have a credit check!!

In fact we have had a couple of calls from customers who buy direct from us who understood it and appreciated the scheme. And NO these are not customers who spend thousands! they have set up the payment scheme

But seriously if you have an issue with a positive offer from our company why would you AGAIN say in a public forum. Whats wrong with speaking to myself or Mike direct?

we might set the prices in the UK however these are AS MENTIONED before are based on the figure price from HK, exchange rate, VAT, shipping and import! soooooo as we do with our customers we are trying to offer another thing to help.

I'm all in with my butcher friend:) I just recently found that Treefrog does a lay-away plan and have a item I'm paying for right now over a few weeks, it helps with the pocketbook as well as preserving the peace with the Mrs.:)...Sammy

I did a lay away with Treefrog last year at a time when the toy soldier budget was a bit stretched. Very easy and worth it, not to mention great folks to deal with :smile2:

Think it a great idea. By K&C UK and wish Clive at Figarti UK would do the same .

I am sure Andi would have something to say about setting up an account with Clive!!!LOL wonder if there is a limit or, if its only limited by what you can afford each month?
