Kaiser's car at Bersheeba (1 Viewer)

I'ts been a productive Saturday afternoon out in the 'paint & panel shop' today.

Last I re-kitted the driver, he's in tropical clothing, and today the first recoat of a sand colour is completed, together with the wheels, and a canvas hood.

Tomorrow, or later in the week, the deatiling of the paintwork, so recoating too will be done, so more to follow.

Hi John,

It looks fantastic even before you have finished. At this rate, I think you will finish the set in time for the Brisbane meeting.

Cheers, Raymond. :salute::

John mate,
I have just seen the final photos of the Kaiser' Car all weathered up in its new Desert Colours and I am over the moon. Many, many thanks. Your talents never cease to amaze me. I hope you will post the final photos for the boys to see.
Cheers Howard.^&grin

Howard,

thanks for your approval, so now I can show the rest of the guys, the finished car.

Please note that I had to get the car re-registered, as the Kaiser didn't want his personal plates used in the desert. :)

The car has been given a liberal amount of desert dust, as fitting with the arid climate in Palestine, and this sure shows up the details in the tyre tread, and the front leaf springs.

Just to give the car some depth and context, I've posed some Wilson Edwards figures, from Palestine 1917, German and Turkish, into the frame, and you can see how well they fit, but be warned, they are 54mm but the camera makes then look in compatable.

Wayne mate,
Painting takes concentration and nerves of steel.^&grin You cannot paint with a brush in one hand and a beer in the other.^&grin Not at least on any of my AFVs.
Another Sandgropper who with be sadly missed in Brisbane and Melbourne. If we keep drinking to the good health of those absent then we are going to be in a bad state at the end of the night. Chris (Simmo) please take note.
Cheers Howard:smile2:

Howard if I show up anything can happen. You never really no who shows up me or that stupid donkey. Simmo.:salute::

Congratulations

Hi John,

Congrats on your conversion of the Kaiser’s staff Car into a “Desert Kommandwagen”… I love it!

It’s great to see collectors working together and using their skills and imagination to create something brand-new. Very well done!

Best personal wishes and… happy converting,
Andy C. Neilson

Fine job..........now get cracking on the Rolls conversion...............that will be the jewel of the collection

Walt Damon

That upcoming figure of General Kemal Ataturk would make a splendid figure to accompany this fine converted car.
