Clive mate,
Happy Christmas Day. That is here in the Land Downunder. Just been under the tree and opening presents. Scotch, Scotch, DVD, Scotch, but no Train set. Is it coming with the Easter Bunny? Just joking cobber.:D:D
Have a great Christmas and a fantastic New Year.
Cheers Howard:)

Howard has sent me some photos of some of the add on sets, ETG-24, ETG-44 and ETG-52.

Thanks mate.

So here is an idea: the engine, with boxcars and passenger cars full of troops (maybe the passenger cars have the officers), flatcars with troops on guard/antiaircraft guns, the rocket they made on another flatcar, the Karl Moser, the railgun from shock and awe, and French Partisans (K&C?) with allied planes, attacking. So who has the $5000+?:)

I am waiting for this piece too. I am anxious to get the reaction from the various collectors as they begin to arrive. Pacific rim should be first. Happy New Year.

Sadly, the add on sets do nothing for me. Great poses but, they are just not right IMO look diminutive and very thin and again, the painting is not what it should be.

Thanks for the pics, Brad. I particularly like the the Defend or Die set # ETG-024. The machine gunner "straffing" is a great pose, as are the rifleman on the move while aiming, and the kneeling figure pointing. I really enjoy Figarti's figures, and have a fair amount of them. But I was disappointed to find that when I went to pre-order this particular set from HB, the price was $99.00. Now I hate to complain about pricing, as we have all come to expect a certain amount of increases, even in these very challenging economic times. It is, after all, a part of any healthy economic cycle and a necessary mechanism of staying in business. We get that. With that being said, the $33.00 per figure mark might just leave me walking away from this set, and certainly make me less likely to "take chances" on buying any given set that I have not seen in person. It's not so much the $33.00 mark that hinders me so much so as the precipitous rise in cost percentage-wise, IMHO. For instance, at last year's Westcoaster I purchased some of the Wake Island 3 figure sets for $79.00 each. I also bought the Lost in the Desert 4 figure set for $99.00. The new Defend or Die set is $99.00. A 20% price increase over the Wake Is. sets, and a 25% increase over the Lost in the Desert set. Increases such as these in under a year will be hard for me to justify and absorb in the future, even as other manufacturer's prices climb a similarly steep "curve". To Figarti's credit, they have done an EXCELLENT job keeping the cost down for the German railroad engine, railway cars, the mighty Karl, the crane, and other railroad accessories. But I don't see proportionate "savings" w/ the figure sets. In the end, I will wait to see these figures in the flesh at the Westcoaster. Perhaps that is the best choice because the coloring seems to be a bit "off" in the pics. However, I think this is due to the lighting in the pics as opposed to the actual painting. Bottom line, I am left to wonder two things...
1) Is the day coming when "the big boys" will find it is actually less expensive to manufacture their products somewhere else other than China? Or that it is more cost effective to perform some aspects of manufacturing elsewhere? (E.G. Honour Bound having the painting of their Shores of Tripoli line done in the US).
2) Am I on the cusp of being priced out of this hobby? Like all of us, I love this hobby, but I have found myself buying quite a bit less this year, and at the same time considering selling off more and more. I've also experienced more "buyer's remorse" this year than I typically do.
These are just some of my thoughts on the hobby as we approach the new year, and as always, what I have stated here is not meant to stoke any unlit or smoldering fires, if there are any. Just a little constructive criticism as well as acclaim and my own expression of some real questions and concerns.
