So do I. Wouldn't it be cool if like the Streets of Hong Kong series Andy gave you a choice of either matt or glossy finish when you ordered a set?

Great stuff. I'll bet if K&C came out with a line of glossy soldiers it would be a success. Maybe like limited editions or something? Britains new line of gloss figures have been successful so there's still a market out there.

Happy Easter to you too Dave. I discussed with Andy the idea of revisiting the Northwest Frontier by redoing the original sets from 1984-1988 (many of which are depicted on this thread) in todays level of quality for the 25th Anniversary of K&C (i.e. 2009). Andy seems to be seriously considering this idea, but only with matt paint jobs.

Perhaps if this portion of the forum continues to take off like it seems to have been so far, and there is clearly a large market (with gaps big enough to drive a truck through upon the absence of Trophy and Imperial), Andy might again offer the choice of matt or glossy like he used to do with the Rough Riders (I think all they did was put a clear coat of gloss over the matt paint jobs, and the figures looked great). I guess we can only show our interest and hope.

I have to admit the idea of them reintroducing a NWF series is very appealing to me and if they werent available in glossy I would probably still be very interested in making them part of my collection. Very nice to hear he is considering it, Well I will keep my fingers crossed!

I just sent Brad thirteen more photographs of old glossy K&C stuff to post (and I asked him to post them at his own pace, because I have been sending him a lot of photos lately, and I appreciate that he takes the time and effort to post them for me). The subjects depicted are as follows:

1. A Royal Artillery Field Gun and Crew, produced around 1988;
2. A broad shot of all my Glossy Napoleonic French figures, produced 1994-1995 (including a proof of the mounted curassier alongside the production fgure);
3. A broad shot of all my Glossy Napoleonic British and Allied troops (including a proof of Wellington along side the production figure);
4. Marching French Foriegn Legion, including color party, officer, pioneers, drums and bugles and regular troops, produced in 1988;
5. A late production glossy band, color party and marching troops, produced in 1996;
6. A better shot of 8 of the 9 different poses of Afghan Tribesmen K&C produced in 1988-1990;
7. The last glossy Seaforth Highlanders produced in 1996 (they really make you wonder what K&C present sculpting would look like in glossy);

The next few photos take you on a tour of the development of glossy cavalry:

8. The original Lancer figures K&C produced in 1984;
9. A New South Wales Lancers bugler and 2 16th Lancers from the improved 1988-1990 production lancers (there were also officers, lancers with the lance couched to charge, and other Indian Army Lancer regments like the Duke of Connaught's Lancers and Bengal Lancers during this period);
10. Boxer Cavalry circa 1991-1993;
11. Mounted Cuirassiers, 1994-1995;
12. Rough Riders from 1997, the last cavalry available in glossy to date.

and finally,

13. All Four Palio Races Standard Bearers (the detail on the painting of these figures, as well as in the photographs of the Les Miserables set similarly released in 1997, really make me wish K&C had continued in glossy, they had really mastered the painting technique).

I am happy to help. I get a vicarious thrill helping others post their photos. It's almost like it's my collection too in a small way. I also really enjoy helping to get Louis' photos up since he has such a wonderful collection. There is something there that appeals to all of us and friendships, as Louis says, is what it's all about.
