I have a ? for andy. Would you ever consider doing a K&C plastic line of figures say something conte has done were they put out there metal figures in unpainted plastic? They have done really well with thare latest figures of the cival war and alamo mexicans. Then guys could paint and convert them to fill out dioramas like large scale napoleonic battles with the greatest plastic figures that would ever be made! you could take over the plastic market with your metal figures done in plastic if you put out a few good sets like conte has done. maybe get some more use out of the retired moulds also. If any one agrees with me please leave some feedback on this so andy has an idea if this could be a good future project! I know i would buy a ton of his napoleonics in plastic to paint and convert. and i,ll bet i,m not alone, you world war 2 guys would do the same i,d bet, and he already has a ton of the moulds.

For once, John and I agree. That would be an awful, simply horrendous idea.

Sorry, but I must agree. I really like K&C figures, but to see them in plastic would cheapen the line. K&C is the "Cadillac" of collectible soldiers, and Andy has worked hard to make it that way. That's why the limited editions in small numbers. If Andy wanted to mass-market the line I'm sure that it would be well received, but the line would be cheapened.

Contes line was never cheapened buy thare line of plastic figures! I think it would bring a whole lot of new collectors to king and country who love the figures but don,t have the money for whole collections, they would be able to fill out thier collections and mix some plastic with the metal to fill out dioramas and not have to file for bankrupcy, were not all doctors and lawyers!I,ve been lucky to complete my napoleonic collection with the exceptionof four dragoons but most people can,t even afford that! I,d like to make a nice big diorama with them but i don,t have that kind of money, and how is an unpainted plastic figure going to cheapen a beautiful K&C metal painted figure? Think of all the conversions that could be made! you could repaint as differtent units, convert to different units. you guys are hard core K&C and don,t want change i know but i,m sure there would be a huge market for plastic and i don,t want cheap plastic but a new standard of high class plastic figures for true hobbiests! I bet i,l get shot down with this idea many more times on this forum with you K&C purists but on other sites i,m sure there would be a glow of excitement!!!

Sorry I don't think plastic is a good idea either!! I have always been a person who only collects the best and that is why I collect K&C, I find Conte is cheap compared to K&C and that is why I don't buy them if you need fillers buy Conte. I think we all have a responsibility to maintain K&C status as being the best. Thats my 2cents worth anyway.

Cheers
Wellington

PS I'M NOT SAYING CONTE IS NO GOOD JUST DOESN'T MEET MY STANDARDS:)

Your problem is equating Conte with K & C. There's the fallacy. Also the fact that everybody doesn't have the money all at once doesn't wash with me. People do what they can with what they have. It would cheapen the collectors who painstakingly built their collections.

But this is all academic. I can assure you that never in a million years would Andy make plastic. Please, next topic.

Sure, King & Country should make plastic soldiers; and Rolls Royce should make wooden cars and cloth jet engines; and, Rolex should make tin watches with pendulums; and, Tiffany should make lamps without glass shades; and, well you get the idea. King & Country should not make anything of plastic, other than perhaps its molds for its metal figures.

Boy i feel like judas at the last supper can i be forgiven or should i find another forum to go to!!! Am i banished for this thought. Maybe it would have been better recieved if i had put it as if K&C could produce figures in his scale with his sculptures in his style for another company kind of like what he did with del prado new figures on commission and maybe someone would still talk to me!!! But i guess andy wouldn,t in a trillion years ever make anything in plastic anyway. I,m the new guy so i don,t know the rules yet, is it O.K. to even talk about plastic or is everyone metal heads? I,m very sorry to have offend anyone and didn,t realize how deep these feelings go. I,m sorry i brought it up. Its like i kicked your dogs and insulted your mothers. Can we delete the whole subject and start fresh?

You have every right to express your ideas and thoughts about any subject, at least I believe and hope that you can and will. You did not kick my dog or call my mother a name. As far as I am concerned, the only opinion that is not a correct opinion is one that takes the right of another to express their opinion. Who knows, K&C may make plastic in the future and they could be successful (in terms of profit). My personal advice is to continue to express yourself. You may not agree with what I, and others have said, but so what. It's only opinion, and you know about opinions. They are like butts, everybody has one, and they all stink. :D

I love the idea of plastic figures! Maybe, just maybe, Andy could provide diecast metal bases like the old Britains Deetail series.

What's to cheapen? Why the huge pedestal? Yeah this stuff is great but let's face it: The way things are right now, people of a different income stratus and children cannot enjoy these as much you all do.

A very important point Andy made when he was at my shop was that this hobby needs to promoted to children again. What better way than for the leading soldier producer of our day to lay ground work for tomorrow.

Then we can begin with die-cast production. Andy, you listening in? Be the Britains of today - please. There is still a very big void there.

Re: king and country plastic??? It was done!

K&C figures were made in plastic! About 5 or so years ago BMC made an IwoJima playset that contained K&C Marines, Japs, landing craft, amtrack and sherman tank, all done in plastic.
Besides collecting K&C, I also collect Conte,s plastic, and I would love if some K&C were produced in plastic.
Don,t understand how that would cheapon the metal versions, they are two seperate animals.
I don,t want to comment, as I don,t know, I will leave this up to Andy, but I thought there was some disagreement between K&C and BMC over the above plastic deal.

Fishhead,

This is a place to express opinions and as long as we're all civil to each other, anything is fair game. From what I read, you said nothing out of bounds so keep on posting and express your opinion, even though I don't agree with it. But so, what? It's your opinion and there are no wrong opinions.

fishead19690,
You certainly can and are encouraged to express your opinion and ask any and all questions on this forum. It would be a pretty boring board if everyone agreed with each other in every post.
As a King & Country dealer I would sigh if Andy brought out a plastics line because every time I open a counter pack of Britains plastics it seems at least one figure is rattling around broken, but I guess if they were packaged properly (like the rest of the Britains plastics line) it wouldn't be so bad. And if King & Country DID produce a plastics line you know it would be good. ;)
Anyway, keep on postulating on the board. We welcome fresh opinions. Yes, we do have quite a few K&C purists on the board (and they're good people:) ) but we want to hear from you just as much as them. You're definitely not banished, but welcomed. We're glad you're on board.

thanks guys i was getting ready to bag my bags and find a new site there for a while. I would never want to cheapen K&C either they are the best metal other than some real big money russian stuff. My idea was just to be able to have high class plastic that could be painted and converted to go along with K&C and fit in and not be under scale. I like napoleonics and in napoleonic battles the armies were sometimes into the 100,000 mark just on one side. I,d like to show that in a dioroma (not with those kind of numbers of corse) some time in the future but could never afford that. but it would be nice to make a british square and be able to convert to not have figures look like the attack of the clones if you know what i mean. Sceic2 it took me months to get a del prado spanish dragoon figure on ebay becuase you always out bid me how many do you have now? hows the dragoon troop doing? wouldn,t it look munch better if you had a few conversions of that figure to give your troop of dragoons a little more life? Maybe in the future we,ll get someone to put out some good plastic in this scale to mix with till then i,ll just keep hopeing ,and if anyones still upset about my violating thoughts i,m sorry.

Hi Fishhead. Yeah, I have been buying a lot of Del Prado Napoleonic cavalry on eBay. I am an inpatient person and I cannot wait years for the single figures to become available on the ONWTC site http://www.delpradousa.com I am seeking about 25 more of specific numbers; I have 105 and I am waiting for 78 to come in the mail. Of course I am single and I have three grown children who no longer require financial assistance (as of today anyway). I am fortunate enough to have a well paying job and I have a 20-year retirement income from my Navy career. If I were younger, and less fortunate than I am today, I would not have been able to even collect. I remember the first time I was able to go clothes shopping for myself and not have to worry about spending to much on myself because the kids needed new shoes or some other expense like braces or tuition or whatever the heck they needed (or would just “die” without).

I promise to stop out bidding you and others, in about 25 figures. They are the higher numbers so if you are looking for those whose number is less than 50, I will not be bidding. Maybe.:D

As far as you having to appoligize for you thoughts on this forum. Forget about it. You have nothing to appoligize for. I hope to hear a lot from you. Just think how boring this place would be if we all thought, spoke or acted alike. Keep the ideas coming:)

Yes i can,t wait for them them to start selling the del prado figures in singles either i,m still getting a few of the ones i really like and holding off for now on others. If i can get it for good price i,ll buy.I,ve got the 100 napoleon at war figures and about 70 of the cavalry. i,m also missing the higher numbers as they sell higher right now. I also have 2 kids but mine are still home a 4year old daughter and 10 year old stepson and know all all about the expence of childern! Have you seen any of the new hatchette napoleonic marshalls also made by K&C? I love the paint work, its better than the del prado i think but the prices on ebay from france are kind of high so i just keep watching and every now and then find one or two for a good price.I,ve got 6or7 them, I don,t see a USA release coming on these though as the books are in french! I was just kidding about the ebay bidding thing bid as you please! just think if you out bid me my kids might even eat that week:D : just kidding of course guys remember when the house is on fire get your kids before your K&C collections!!!

You bad boy you...go to your room......;) It's just a forum and we all have the right to express our views..thats what makes this forum fun if we all agreed on things this forum would be boring. Hey look at all the attention you have gotten already. But on a serious note I think you will find that K&C collectors are a very proud people and very protective with their family of metal people. Try putting a post on Britains then look at how many people view it in a day you will be lucky to have two and you most likely won't get any responses, just look at my Threads for the NELSON SERIES (second one on page one)and you will laugh.....K&C people have fire under their as@#@!!!

Gideon is right. Want to get young folks into the hobby of Military Miniatutres? Plastics. Quality, not the bag o guys you find at the dollar tree.
How many young folks can afford to buy a set of 4 figures for $90.00? None, they'll turn elsewhere to GW fantasy stuf or what not.
I've been involved in miniatures for as long as I can remember and just started collecting painted metal sets about 3 years ago.Can afford it now. Not when I was 15.
I think if some of the K/C were done in kit form{ maybe even pantagraphed to 1/32!!!!!}
Semi hard styrene and done in sets similar to Tamiya or Dragon you would have a huge market. Every Hobby shop in the country would stock them.Package them with images of the same troops painted from the metal line.
Tons of $$$ to be made and a lot of happy modelers and painters, even guys like me and leadmen!
King and Country are without a doubt the finest metal troops out there.I don't collect too many, just a few.
I can either use the hundreds of manufacturers out there that make kits, figures, armor, buildings whatever in 1/32, or be at the mercy of whatever K/C release in their own scale. Sorry, I 'll go with the others.Of course I enjoy kits , conversions, painting ect.If you are not into that then K/C would be the way to go I would think.Just my 2 cents.
