King & Country book (1 Viewer)

I own Vol 1 & 3 of these books you fellows made and I must say they are awesome...first class quality too!

Never seen the books , what does each different volume cover ?

Joe

There are volumes on early WWII production through the second Arnhem release, early glossy production, warbirds, and Vietnam through the present. On each of these subjects there is both text identifying each set by release date, original retail price and giving detailed descriptions of the set, as well as large color photographs of each set almost always taken in natural light surrounded by King & Country scenics and diorams, from several of the leading collections, including my own, Kevin Elliott's and Lawrence Lo's to name a few.

There are also two recent volumes consisting completely of duplicate photographs of the early glossy sets which did not make it into the early glossy book.

Can you advise or update how many pages are within volume 10?

The "About the Book" description says 240 pages.

Raymond :)

Thank you for the comments. The latest photobooks are just that, mainly full page photos with an odd few smaller but multiple shots. Vol8 was around 150 photos, these next two are over 200. Because this seemed popular I have done the next two. They are essentially just photos of the 2007 and 2009 photoshoots done in Louis' back yard.

NB A number of the photos are in Volume 3 with the definitive text, but would not be this size and many more views can be shown when they are often confine to one in Volume 3. Very few people would have any access to this kind of collection, so for those that don't, we hope you enjoy them this way.

I have tried to do a free e-book, but I can't get it to download and hope you can do this. This is just a taster from different periods and theatres.

I have a number of other projects on the go since 2009, but not been well enough to do any more text based books, but can manage to drop photos into one of these picture books. Am keen for feedback, please keep it constructive.

Yep, good to see you posting more pictures Kevin. Keep 'em coming.

I re-read this thread today, it was started 10 years ago!{sm2} So many memories, so many good friends who are no longer with us. Shannon Reuss, Larry Lo, Chuck Harris, Chuck Karen, Joe (The Lt.). I miss them all so much.:redface2:

Just pulling this thread up so the newer forum members can see the labor of love Kevin and the rest of us put into the K&C books . . . :salute::

My job on the desert book was done a couple of years ago. I wrote the text, and helped stage all the desert sets for Kevin to photograph. Kevin had the sniffles or something ^&grin, so has been sitting on his hands for the last couple of years, keeping us all in suspense. I'm sure he'll get the desert volume out sooner or later.

I'll tell you one thing, the desert photos are far and away my favorite of all the photos Kevin has taken. ^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool We had brilliant midsummer sunshine for the photoshoot, and we set out all my K&C desert dioramas in depth, and ended up with photos so realistic it was scary. The only ones in the same league were te early morning matt Civil War photos taken with the fog off my neighbor's pond giving the most realistic "fog of battle" atmosphere you could imagine.:wink2:

The post I am quoting was posted 9 years ago in 2011! {sm3} Believe it or not, Kevin has reported that the Desert Volume is finally almost ready . . . maybe we will see it before 2030!{sm2}{sm4}

There are books about W.Britain, Matchbox, Rewell, Lineol and many others,
I wondered all the time why not about King & Country?

Gunther,

A long time ago I talked to Andy about writing the definitive guide to "The Streets of Hong Kong". Again, that was a long time ago and its on the list of things to do and I'll get to it. I do have one of Louis B books and frankly its awesome.

Gunther,

Here is a link to the presently published volumes. The First four Volumes on Early WWII production (1989 through 1998), Warbirds, Early Glossy Production (1984-1996), and Modern War (Vietnam to the Present) have been published based on research by the late great Lawrence Lo, Hans Hedrich and myself, with photography and editting by Kevin Elliott (Panda1gen). There are also several other volumes with no text, just hundreds of Kevin's fantastic photographs. Buying the book in British Pounds is generally the cheapest method, based on the exchange rates (you choose whether to pay in Pounds, Dollars or Euros).

I hope you enjoy our labor of love!

Louis

Thank you Louis.

I'll do it as soon as I've found a way to get home.

Gunther,

Just so you know, I have never taken a penny from the sale of the book. What little proceeds there were from the sale all went to defray Kevin's expenses of traveling to the United States twice to do the photography. This was a labor of love. We set out to document the amazing work done by Andy Neilson, his brother Gordon, and the rest of the K&C family over the years, especially their early work, which was in large part unknown to some of the more recent collectors.

If you do purchase any of the volumes, I hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed putting them together.

Thankyou Louis, yourself, Kevin and our great mutual friends Larry & Hans produced a truly magnificent set of volumes that are a Godsend to anyone interested or collecting the earlier years of King & Country.
All the best,
Andy.
