King & Country in Singapore 2015 (2 Viewers)

Hi OD, I was looking forward to meeting you but alas, I think we were all busy with our passions. I was also looking out for Tim (DM101).

rgds,Chris

Saw you when you won the first lucky draw ... Was engrossed with the gentle lasses from K&C trying to pick up some of the great new releases. Had a hard time picking between the new French gunners or the BBA releases first.

Would have loved the opportunity to chat. Next time we arrange to adjourn to a bar and pump Andy some more. {sm4} Meanwhile, if you and/or fellow collectors are passing Seremban please feel welcomed to drop in, for a beer or two and talk TS .. :salute::

Cheers
OD

Hi Chris,
great to meet you yesterday .

I also wanted to say thanks to Andy, Helen and the team for creating such a pleasant event
and sharing so much insight with us on how their industry functions and how they make some of their creative choices .

my notes , just to adjust yours a little :-

1. more Japanese ww2 coming including the 2 zeros, 1 in classic green and 1 in camouflage , plus ground crew / guards. the Navy zero has been an outstanding seller.

2. Andy was thinking about a modern war , and Vietnam or Arab- Israeli were contenders. urban likely if Vietnam.

3. no plans for ACW, Vikings or zulu .

4. I think it was a corsair for allies in Asia. comment made that the plans served with US and RAF so it's adaptable.

5. Ww2 poles was raised from the floor and Andy's comment was that it would be compatible with other FOB sets, although it seemed to stop short at "probable" at this stage. lots of FOB in the works in general.

6. ww2 in SEA: Malaya / fall of Singapore a contender because of size of conflict. fall of Hong Kong and Philippines too small.

7. streets of London 1860-1900 coming and in the works ; streets of Singapore or a generic " Chinatown" , could happen.

thanks to all. I enjoyed the event .
best
Andrew
The news about more Zeros is exciting, as is the possible F4U Corsair. I wonder if the camo Zero will be one belonging to Japanese ace Hiroyoshi Nishizawa? There are several photos of his famous Zero, green camo over the gray base, with the U1 105 tail code. He was good friends with Saburo Sakai, the pilot of the just released KC Zero. The solid green camo Zero could be Tetsuzo Iwamoto's, the IJN's top scoring ace. Exciting possibilities. The Corsair is a good choice, being used by the USN, the USMC, the British Navy, and New Zealand. A New Zealand version would be quite the unusual and interesting choice. -- Al

I'm not surprised about ACW. That range, once again, appears to be dead, K & C apparently ceding the stage to Britain's and to, a lesser extent, First Legion.

...My rule of thumb is I'll display prints and figures of Americans killing fascists, communists and Nazis, but not of Americans killing Americans. The ACW is really boring to me all around.

Very good the muddy boots.....But, why so clean helmets??{sm2} If the soldiers are in the mud, I think it is hard that the helmets stay perfectly clean!
Also, tons of german and american soldiers come out every month, with more or less the same poses. And still no civilians at all ; normal civilians reading a newspaper, smoking, walking, talking. I don' t mean refugees nor civilians saluting a parade...[/QUOTE]

Also, while there are tons of SS and SA, never seen german police ( not MP " feldgendarmerie") like KRIPO, GESTAPO, SHUTZPOLIZEI.

Thanks Al, yeah the Corsair is much loved in NZ for that very reason. I used to know a Kiwi who worked as ground-crew on them in the Pacific during WW2 but sadly he has now passed. I recall him talking about the terrible heat and battling the constant problem of keeping sand out of the planes mechanic's.
A very popular aircraft by all accounts, especially with the Kiwi pilots.

Here's a wee clip of a resent restored NZ Corsair........enjoy!

Personally, I would love to have a Corsair in NZ colors/markings. My father, who was in USN intelligence during WW2, took photos of his various postings and I have several pictures of NZ Corsairs that he told me were taken at a base on Bougainville. Unfortunately there is no ID to the squadron or airfield and I don't know what date he was assigned to Bougainville, or for how long. -- Al

Upon studying the photos, it appears to be possibly one of the Piva airfields in the Torokina area because Mt. Baranga is in one of the photos. -- Al

I disagree because of what the country was before and what it was like after. It is all around us.

However, this is not the place to discuss it.

I'll do some digging around Al and see if I can locate some more details for ya. I have a few NZ military reference books that may answer a few questions regarding the airfields etc.
Cheers Toddy

My oh my, still no sign of those guaranteed money spinners: Fallschirmjagers and Kriegsmarine. Somewhat perplexed......

AL, a quick glance at my reading material mentions number 25 squadron of the RNZAF based at Piva Airfield in early 1944. They originally operated Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bombers but then switched to F4U Corsairs when they moved to Piva airfield on Bougainvile.

Hope this helps mate? I'll keep digging. Sounds like we worked very closely with the US providing air support in the Pacific whenever called upon.

Much appreciated, Toddy. From my understanding, there were 2 strips at Piva, one for fighters, one for bombers. It would be interesting to see what NZ squadrons were at the Bougainville strips, and when. I have a feeling my father must have been there sometime in 1944. -- Al

I wonder if crew figures for the new M36 are in the pipeline?

Good point, I wondered that to although I'm sure there are plans to release some Jackson crewman in the future.

Hi Guys,

Just got back from Singapore late last night after a hectic but very enjoyable 48 hours in this exciting and dynamic city/state.

Many thanks to all the guys and quite a few of their ladies who came along to the Singapore Cricket Club on Saturday afternoon...Great lunch...plenty of ideas and suggestions and a wealth of terrific feedback some of which you will see come to reality in the coming months.

Now, in relation to a few points...
1. M36 “Jackson” Tankers
We are releasing 3 “Duo” sets of dismounted U.S. tank/armoured crew members very soon...watch out for ‘em!

2. “Guaranteed Money spinners”
Fallschirmjagers and/or Kriegsmarine...Well Bridport I hope you’re right as we’ve got half of your request appearing soon...

3. More Zeroes...
Two at least...And one is definitely Japanese Army “green”.

4. “Ceding the stage to FL and Britain’s..?
At present K&C have got “other fish to fry”...But who knows down the line..?
It’s impossible to do everything for everyone. Someone alas, is always going to be disappointed somewhere.

5. Gestapo, Police etc...etc.
Well, over the years we’ve done a darn sight more than anyone else...Remember “Gestapo Arrest!” By the by is that Poppo in the leather coat and looking a wee bit kinky..?

Thanks again Guys for your interest.
Best wishes,

Andy

With respect to Civil War, I'm not disappointed (as I don't collect K & C Civil War due to the infrequency of the releases). Just stating the obvious which you, more or less, have confirmed.

I hope that I am reading this correctly ....^&confuse ... did I jut read that K&C will make TWO more zeroes ...{sm3}. I thought that I read the THIRD zero was the last. If TWO more are on the way then I am a very happy person.
