Since my initial collecting interest in King&Country back in August 2007 I have found that many of the LAH releases that were around at that time seem to command some very respectable secondary market prices on E-Bay. To name a few examples from my own personal experience: LAH lamp post set...original retail cost $21.00. Sold for $125.00
LAH standing flag bearer....original retail cost $32.00 each. Sold for $75.00 each
Marching blood flag bearer...original retail cost $32.00. Sold for $90.00......Just a few very valid and real examples.
In addition many LAH items put up for auction in which I have watched and viewed have also commanded very respectable return on investment prices. So........my question to the Treefrog community is:
Do you think this was a thing of the past,or are there some current LAH releases which have the potential for a healthy return if the desire to sell presented itself. Me personally I feel there are several good examples of products currently still available at retail which have the potential to do well.
Now to address the underlying issue in this thread which some may bring to surface. I collect these miniatures for my interest in WWII and having the ability to have scaled down well made examples of the men and materials that were used during these epic and historic conflicts.A small museum if you will. If this all retains its value over time and in many cases increases in value as time goes by and scarcity comes into play well for me.....all the better. Cheers. ^&grin

Love the Lah line and think many of the items will do well in the long haul.Mike B.:)

LAH is big seller
Will always be in demand
Even CS is getting big demand with theirs
German sells

I like the range but, e-bay is a fickle way to address the worth of a figure as I have also seen many LAH go for less or about what they originally went for. Its going to be interesting to see if the popularity of older stuff is attached to the newer releases or, if it is only for older stuff. Older marching figures and presenting arms are for sale in the K&CUK classic disco for £40 so, its not a huge rise on the prices

What current pieces do you predict will be future sellers you don't state????

Its a double edged sword with the popularity of the range you could also say that because so many people buy it there will be more available and could negatively affect the sell on price. I think the sigrune was a good seller but, the price of that piece dropped massively with the release of a second version of this famous LAH horse.

I would say the horse troops and flag bearer would be future interesting sets as the LAH rarely used them. I would like to see Sepp dietrich on horseback as he was a talented horseman. I also think because of the speed of retirement that the trenchcoat troops would be popular as they could not have been that popular in terms of LAH figures.

Mind, I don't buy thinking this will become rare or, worth more.

For me it is very simple . Every item I buy is NOT FOR SALE. So I never look at possible value increases and I am not interested . As far as I am concerned: prices of figures and vehicles on e-bay are irrelevant .

Just how I see it! I used to tell my wife how much my collections will increase in value but I realised that she was never buying it.

I knew from the start when posting this thread that some would contest the thought of selling any of their collection.
That was why I addressed it at the end of my post. If buying a LAH lamp post set and then decide to sell it on E-Bay and get nearly 6 times the original purchase price back, well call me fickle too all day long.Another point to consider is some collectors change up their collections and sell to make room for or free up funds for other items. There are many out there who would not sell a thing, while others could go either way.Cheers ......:wink2:

PA...

What are the ones you have in mind that will become premium sets.

I bet there were very very few who bought lots of the lampost and thought, they will make me a killing later. I think the price would now be different due to cheaper ones being readily available from K&C around the world
Mitch

No doubt prices do increase, and the LAH series is a fine example. To me however, and I believe that to the majority of other collectors, it's not of any importance; it might be, however, for my widow....:D

I always thought this was an excellent series.

But if you are looking to sell, doesn't ebay balk about listing items with Nazis symbols and stuff, or do they realize these are just toy soldiers?

Walt...

I think its the swastika they won't tolerate. I don't buy or sell on e-bay but, when I look all the swastikas are redacted

A very simplistic way of looking at things but everyone to there own

hi mitch, your depth of knowledge is very impressive[sepp dietrich the equstrian]. Keep up the good work. And by the way when are we getting our brumbar, puma and sturmtiger?

Hawkeye...

Ask the man in charge!!!! Sturmtiger then brumbar and puma that should sort out February and March's dispatches. Seriously, one or more should be coming through soon??

A couple of points that I want to address here. EBay has pulled toy soldier auctions with swasticas on them, and then turn around a month later and allow the same item to sell till it is bought. Go figure. the safest way to trade these items on E-Bay is to ensure the swasticas are not visible in the sellers photos.
I don't buy my figures, planes, or tanks for the return investment, but many of these items have had and currently possess great potential as far as future value. A few years back I had some extra K&C LAH items which I willfully decided to sell to generate some extra income for a new vehicle purchase.Everything listed on E-Bay sold and had a profit of 3 to 5 times the original cost. Factual story......and all True. !
I have my LAH collection which will remain with me for years to come.I also currently have multiples of extra items which I personally feel will be good trade material a few years down the road.Mitch.... what items specifically I am refering to is exactly that....for me to know. If and when I decide to part with them I will then disclose more detailed info.
Many collectors,be it whatever hobby have been known to acquire multiples of hot, high demand items for future endeavors, whatever that may entail. My own experiences which turned out very positive cannot be altered by someone else's fickle opinion. To each his own. you be your own judge. Cheers.....and Happy Collecting. !!!

One very important point to consider regarding this thread. New collectors just gaining interest in the hobby and having the means to purchase are a big driving force in regards to higher values of retired items.....bought at original retail and sold 3x -5x the initial price. As a new collector 4 years ago I too paid the price for those hard to find retired items.
It doesn't hurt to realise top quality, hand painted white metal toy soldiers have value to them......whether you keep everything and never sell a thing or not. Cheers....

what harm can come from you mentioning what you consider to be future valuable figures in the LAH range on a thread you generated specifically about price and speculative gain.

While increase price means more to some collectors than others I really do think what will become sought after is something which, now cannot really be tagged down as a cert. I have seen many things which you would expect to be a stone wall cert for rarity stay around for years and, things which, one would not expect become very wanted.
Mitch

Mitch, Not just the figures. The Diorama sets are a big part of it also. Why you refer to speculative pricing when I gave several examples of E-Bay selling from personal experience. Lastly I will let the cat out of the bag, precluded by a very loud CHA-Ching before hand. :D. Cheers....and Happy Collecting. !
