King & Country U.K. (1 Viewer)

My thoughts right now are for Mike, Sue, Tony, Dave and Catherine. They are some of the nicest people you could wish to meet. They also always provided a superb and friendly service and will be much missed. There will be ( quite literally ) a big hole in the London shows now . But as i say I want to send my very best to you guys, it's been a pleasure knowing you all for all these years and I send you nothing but best for Mike health and all your futures.

The Neville family simply stated are Top Shelf and Wonderful Folks. I wish them all the best!

Though I do not know the Neville family personally. I have ordered from K&C UK and they have always made sure that VAT was waived and shipping was well packed, since these are export sales from UK. Their service has always been excellent. If they are ever back into the Toy Soldier Collecting biz, I hope they will let us know. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

I have held back from commenting as, being a manufacturer these days I have relinquished my right to post as a collector. However....

I would like to wish Mike all the very best in his battle with his health. I may be younger than Mike, but I have had my battles in the last two years, so appreciate where he us at.

Also, I would like to thank and congratulate the entire family and staff of K&C UK for all they did for our hobby in their 21 years of business. The few dealings I had with them directly were very enjoyable.

This is, without a doubt, a shock and a body blow to the UK toy soldier scene, for both collectors and businesses, be that retailers, magazine owners, show organisers or other manufacturers.

An announcement like this is bound to bring about dialogue and concern, but I for one would rather see us all thank everyone involved for the 21 years of service and keep a thought for what the family are going through as, like with myself, there are real people behind the business and people have feelings and should be respected.
I myself have been on the receiving end of some unpleasant comments, practices and hurtful behaviour over my first 18 months in business, so I feel to be in a position to understand and appreciate. Behind all businesses there are people and the people behind most businesses in our hobby give their heart and soul to the collectors, much like the Nevilles did for 21 years.

I sincerely hope I have offended no one with this post. It is meant with respect and gratitude.

Malcolm.:salute::

I wish the family all the best in the future.
And thanks for the fantastic years of collecting,

Harry

oh wow, I'm gutted, It looks like I have to sell my collection on Ebay now. K&C UK took all the hassle out of ordering stuff from Hong Kong and having to send faulty orders back.

I wouldn't be too hasty just yet until you see what develops. K & C may appoint a new dealer for the UK, from which you can then purchase your needs.

Tony,

Please pass on my best wishes to your Dad and I am very sorry to hear about the situation, but want to thank you for the good times we had in person in Chicago as well as the wonderful orders and service I received!

I started my collection buying from them...so i'm a bit sad..:( i wish the Neville Family all the best.

Sad:( to see the UK K&C Company close. The Neville family and associates were very friendly and good reliable people and were very loyal to their collectors in the UK and Europe. They did our hobby proud for 21 years. Even had a order reserved for me when they closed down.:redface2:{eek3} But having talked with them. Unfortunately all assets frozen. They had to close the business. It's been dieing a death for a while. The Toy Soldier market in the UK is not what is was in the 1990s and early 2000s unfortunately.:(:(

Does the Magazine "toy soldier collector" have any effects from this- I thought there was a link...?

I just want to thank the Neville family for years of friendship and assistance in my collecting toy soldiers. On a personal level, I took Meredith (now my wife) to London in 2003 to propose (there just happened to be a London Show the next morning) and Mike and Sue were the first people to see Meredith with the ring on her finger. Tony and his lovely wife were the first people to see "the room" (as my kids call it), the three rooms on the third floor of my home where I keep my collection, fully installed. I still have treasured photos of Tony making faces through the railing of the stairs to the room at my then 10 month old son Alec. I have so many wonderful memories of the Neville family at various Chicago Shows, London Shows and New York Symposia over the years. The Nevilles, like our hosts Pete and Shannon Reuss were instrumental in assisting Kevin Elliott and I in getting the King & Country books written and published. Mike, Sue, Tony, Bob and the rest of the Neville and K&C, UK family, thank you so much for so many wonderful memories! You will be sorely missed in the hobby. If you ever get to New York, please contact me.

I remain your friend,

I am not too well myself and have only just found this thread. Although late I want to put on record my appreciation of Mike and all his family and all his staff. They started me collecting and most of my K&C collection was bought from them. Much more than that though, through their UK events I made friends in the hobby. I wish all of them all the best in future.

People abroad may struggle to understand just how hostile the background is trying to run a small business in the UK . Quite apart from import duty, transport costs, VAT and fluctuations in currencies, there are extremely high business rates and and an inland revenue that rarely allows what many would accept as legitimate business expenses, it is almost impossible.
