Kings Troop RHA (1 Viewer)

I am going to start by painting the horses, gun and limber. The base colours have been applied, at this point they don’t look very exciting.

I use Humbrol gloss enamels for painting traditional gloss figures. The horse colour was dark brown straight out of the tin and this is the first of two coats, the second will be the touching up process when all the details have been painted.

The gun and limber should be a deep bronze green, so to achieve this black is added to the dark green. The wheels will be painted the same colour when the limber and gun carriage have dried. Two coats will again be necessary.

KV.

Thanks, I hope to carry on with the horses tomorrow, but I have a lot of work on at the moment so it may take a while.

Sorry for the delay in progress lately, but I have been so busy work wise I haven't had much time to do some painting. But we are now staying at the Outlaws in Wales for a week :(:) and so I have taken the opportunity to do some more painting. Hopefully I can post some photo's in the next day or two.

Regards

I was wondering about you yesterday. Looking forward to seeing your progress:)

Here we go with a few photos of the horse team with the harness and lead rope painted, as you can see there is a big difference between the Lead, Middle and Limber horse harness. To make the dark leather of the harness I mixed the dark brown with a good portion of black which makes it stand out quite well.

Here are some more.
The manes and tails will be next for the paint brush.

After that the finer detail such as eyes, nostrils  and harness buckles etc.

Hi Brad.

Glad you like it. I have at last managed to get my finger out and things are beginning to come together. I hope to finish the Horses by tomorrow night, then on to the Riders.

Regards

Jeff
