Goering's for me, was the best and luckily I stumbled across K&C when I was at university so, got the early ranges at the very early and very nice prices. There would be room for updated versions of these without doubt in plenty of collections
Mitch

What about a staff car with Goering ?. Perhaps visiting his Pilots during the Battle of Britain. With Heydrich,Hitler and Churchill we've had a few staff cars now, surely Goering or maybe Eisenhower next?.

Rob

Guys...

A new Patton staff car would be very nice.

Summary is the entertainment lobby quietly gets Congress (& their European equivalents) to extend copyright every 20 years or so, the net result is that everything PostWW1-ish is perpetually kept under copyright. Nothing ever goes into the public domain anymore.

The public snoozes on.

Anyone who has done archival research on WW2 knows this, as the WW2 era is under copyright and archivists & librarians are very paranoid as to what can be reproduced...and even photocopied for personal research.* The Patton estate takes full advantage of this & demands their cut for usage of The General

This is the primary reason why so many WW2 history books suck, as it is just too financially prohibitive to do quality research, and much easier to just rip off one another's work instead, which results in books constantly repeating material.

Try to imagine if patents (currently 20 years coverage) had the same protection as copyright (currently 95 years). And people think drug prices are high now.

Following the issuance of the Patton Command Car by King & Country, the Patton Estate sued, which was eventually settled.

Actually, they sent a letter to Andy threatening suit, and Andy settled the claim before a suit was ever filed.

Thanks for the correction.

I'm guessing that it was probably a cease and desist letter for alleged trademark infringement.

I am quite surprised at the Patton estate its just one of those things when we live in a sue everyone driven society. Utterly ridiculous

No, we just need to remind people of Thomas Jefferson:

"In this respect England exhibits the most remarkable phenomenon in the universe in the contrast between the profligacy of it's government and the probity of it's citizens. And accordingly it is now exhibiting an example of the truth of the maxim that virtue & interest are inseparable. It ends, as might have been expected, in the ruin of it's people, but this ruin will fall heaviest, as it ought to fall on that hereditary aristocracy which has for generations been preparing the catastrophe. I hope we shall take warning from the example and crush in it's birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country."

I hope Tom is making Jack Valenti & Sonny Bono pass a history exam before they are allowed out of Hell.

I should cool off. As least Sonny died like the idiot that he was. That's some compensation. It always puts a smile on my face.:D

How does the open market resale work? Is there a condition set by the copyright for sales or, have they not thought of that. It sadly, never ceases to amaze me the petty greed of some people.

My wife bought me one only because she liked the dog in the set. so, she will be quite pleased for me.

Mind you there were plenty of generals who drove in such vehicles so, we still may see another US command car in the future.
Mitch

Which is why the Patton car is such a great piece, because we will never see a remake from K&C

Terry

I am guessing that many WW2 US figures can be produced as models. And I'm not sure how it applies to the rest of the world's historically important figures.

What if Capitolron is right and we are left with Napoleon as the last historic figure which can freely be reproduced, and not the heroes of Arnhem?:D:D

Newer Staff cars would be popular, LAH being the most collected range.
