At long last, I'm filling up those 1969 balloons again. ;) My fearless predictions:

Game 1: Lakers
Game 2: Celts
Game 3: Celts
Game 4: Lakers
Game 5: Celts
Game 6: Lakers
Game 7: Lakers

I get to miss games 2-6 by being in Russia. Hopefully the DVR works and I can avoid hearing the results until I get back. Should be a great series between two great teams.

Doug...

those games should be on in Russia...

I would be surprised if they are not on television there...

with Gasol from Spain and Vujacic from Yugoslavia...:D

seriously...the NBA is followed worldwide...

especially with so many European players now days...

I like your predictions...

you know the format is 2-3-2 on home games...

your picks have both teams stealing one on the road...

Thur 3rd @ LA
Sun 6th @ LA
Tues 8th @ Boston
Thur 10th @ Boston
Sun 13th @ Boston
Tues 15th @ LA
Thur 17th @ LA

two weeks...a long series...lots of layovers for both teams...

for the Lakers...I think 5 days in a row on the road...with 3 games in a row...definitely favors the Lakers to steal one...gives them time to get acclimated to the HOSTILE environment...I agree...Game 4 would be there best chance...I like your picks...:D

I have never liked the 2-3-2 format in the finals even though it supposedly gives a bigger advantage to the team with home court (i.e. the Lakers) for reasons that are unclear to me. As you say, maybe winning 3 straight games at home is considered unlikely by the underdog. So at least one home loss is assumed. However, if the favorite drops one of the first two at home or all three on the road, the best they can expect is to go into game 6 down 3-2, but having two home games to win.

So far this playoff season, the Celtics have dispatched DWade, King James and Superman.

Sorry Celtics fans, but it ends here; Ray Allen will not be able to stop Kobe, the guy is on another planet when it comes to the NBA, nobody can stop him.

Gasol is not the soft player he used to be, Bynam is playing in this series and Artest is not wrapped too tight, he'd make a good Celtic, heard his interview where he was talking about playground ball, knocking guys down, stomping on them, no handshakes, he's a couple of fries short of a happy meal.

Rondo is much better now than he was two years ago, but the big three are two years older, he will run circles around whoever is guarding him and the Celtics have a much better bench, the Lakers have Odom and......................that said, Sasha will come off the bench tonight and probably score 30.

The Zen master has already gotten into the refs heads with his nonsense about Garnett and the way he was hacking away at Superman, "you've got to look out for that sort of thing, we don't play that way, Boston does"................what a jackazz.

He's got a nice full thick head of scalp too by the way, looks good Phil.

Lakers in six, maybe five; remember, they were SUPPOZED to be here, we weren't getting by King James according to the experts, so it's all good, a trip to the finals is always a nice thing, keeps the season going until just about the start of NFL camp, so I'm happy with that.............

Aaaaaaaaaah George...

you sound like you're hustling me...

5 games...come on....you know this will go the distance...

wonder who the X-factors will be this year...

can't see Sasha being one...30 points for the series maybe...:D...

doubt if it's Bynum...

he had his knee drained and it filled up with fluid again the next day...said he won't do it again...

Hope Odoms has his game face on...

I predict foul trouble to plague both teams...I think the refs will call this hard...

I think I read that Kobe is matched up to defend Rondo...

the Big Four are seasoned to the max right now...Boston is as strong as horseradish...very confident too...lots of road wins behind them...

good luck...should be a beaut...I'm chomping at the bit already...

ps...would love to see Perkins get a quick technical...:D

I am actually a Phoenix Suns fan.......just love Nash.

Kobe is just too good.....I hate the guy.....but he is a money player.
The lakers are strong under the boards and Fisher is solid in the back court with Kobe.
Still I think it will be very competitive and I have to root against the Lakers.

Lakers in six or seven games.

George has convinced me the Celts have no chance. I'm dropping the balloons tonight. Lakers in three. :D

Juding by the way this first half is going, both teams deserve to lose. Is it just me or is this just some of the ugliest basketball? Bear in mind, I'm watching on chinese cable so there is no commentary so I have no idea what the tv guys are saying...but just watching, it's slooooppppy.

The officials are calling it tight. So far so good for the Lakers. Gasol is playing well and not backing down to the physical play. Kobe is on fire and Bynum looks more mobile than anytime since his injury. Jack's daughter looks hot again this year. Phil stood up once or twice during the first half which is unusual.

Yea....me too...hardest working guy in the game...I love Nash.:)

Ahhhhhhh you're killing me Doug....Lakers in 3...lol...

Lakers bench actually outscoring Celts bench in 1st half...

Gasol...11 points...7 rebounds...3 blocked shots...now that's a "big man"...

LA +8 on the rebounds...

And he's still got a face only a mother could love.

How many times did he grab rebounds, have gimme put backs, where is Garnett, out to lunch, someone needs to closeline the guy.

If the Celtics play like this, it will be over in three.

Ray Allen should not be on Bryant, boneheaded idea, he was in foul trouble all night, had to bring Tony Allen in, aka, stonehands.

Have to give the Laker fans credit; some real fruitloops in that crowd, who is the guy with the hat and sunglasses sitting courtside alongside the chinese lady with the yellow laker socks on?

Priceless.

And Kim and Odoms wife are in the nosebleed section, go figure, they are sitting behind some other fruitloop with long hair and a wicked witch from the West black hat on.

Some real wingnuts out on the left coast.

Thankfully I'll be driving home from Annandale on Sunday night and won't have to sit through another debacle like this one...........

Almost too easy tonight. The Celts need to beat up Gasol and Kobe to have a chance. I could do without the cast from "Grown Up" sitting in the front row. Great shot of Chris Rock mouthing off while Kobe ignored him. The ghost of Jerry West as personified by Jerry West reminds me it ain't over until it's over with the Celts.

Yea...those whacky, zany L.A. wingnuts are crazy...:D:D...God Bless them...

Reading the LA Times this morning you would think the series is over. I guess they don't remember '69. The Lakers surprised a lot of people last night with their toughness, but I've watched these guys long enough to know they can go into a funk real fast. One night unbeatable, the next horrible.

Got to give you credit Mike, you are the king of tit for tat, I say potato, you say potato, etc, etc, etc.

Someone needs to closeline Gasol tonight or else this thing is over.

Ok, now you say something about the Celtics; this is how this works...............

What a difference a day makes....the Celtics lose this one and it's all but over. With this win, they now have the momentum going into three straight at home.

Rondo is the man...

Ray shot the lights out...

KG....wait, did KG play tonight? I thought I saw him sweating profusely during the timeouts but I couldn't figure out why.

Pierce just looked bad offensively. No rhythm at all tonight. He had one shot where there wasn't anyone within 10 feet of him and he missed horribly.

For the Lakers, Gasol was excellent, Bynum was excellent, Kobe was in foul trouble and only a mere mortal tonight, and Artest stank out the building (offensively at least).

The strange thing about this game, other than 790 fouls, was that I thought the lakers played poorly yet they were up by 3 with like 4 minutes left or something on a night when Rondo had a triple/double and Allen drained 8 threes. On the flip side, the Celtics won in LA after having just been crushed without Pierce or KG doing anything. Not really sure what to make of it. I think it may point to that either team can beat the other on any given night, whether at home or on the road, and we're in for a fantastic series that either can win.

Caught the last half and, man, were the refs making some bad calls on the Celtics. Home court advantage

:mad::mad::mad:

Kobe and Fisher better wake up...

the alarm clock is ringing...

if Allen can do that on the road...it might be a really short series...

Bynum actually showed up...

but Artest, Kobe, Odoms and Fisher missed the game...

Woe is me...woe is me!!!!
