Lakers and Celtics (4 Viewers)

It's put up or shut up time now.[/QUOTE]

It sure is, crunch time indeed, great for TV ratings I am sure:p. Here I am, no TV transmission, just the Internet, will probably try to follow it live through the Internet:rolleyes:

Early line is Lakers -7; after last night, that seems about right.

Celtics were terrible last night shooting the ball, allowing the Lakers to play up tempo and run them out of the building, they had open looks, just did not hit their shots.

Lakers have looked great in two games, terrible in two, ok in two others.

Celtics have looked terrible in two games, good in three, ok in one.

Celtics have yet to have a game where all five starters clicked, which will be impossible now with Perkins out, he tore his knee up and is out.

Wallace now has the chance to earn his big contract.

If I'm Doc, Pierce, Allen, Rondo, KG and Wallace all play 40+ minutes, no use in leaving anything in the tank, sprinkle Big Baby, Allen and Robinson in here and there, but dance with the ones who brung you.

Same deal with the Lakers, all of their starters have to be out there 40 plus minutes, not sure if Bynam can give you that, so Odom will have to spell him if need be.

This is going to be fun.

As a Lakers fan, this series has not been fun. No offense at all to the Celtics, what a run thus far for a team that was written off months ago by press, etc.

That said, the Lakers should have run Boston out in 4 games when they play to potential, ie last night. Only problem is, that was once finally, I hope they have enough left in the tank (in this case, the mind, the athleticism is there, it is the mind).

Perkins absence in the paint will be a factor in Game 7...

somebody (Rasheed or Big Baby) has to step up and try to fill his shoes...

there have been "X" factors in almost every game so far...

I would almost expect to see a news report before the game that Bynum's knee has had the fluid drained again...

was surprised at the bench play by both teams...

for the Lakers...

especially Vujacic...9 points is a big contribution for 14 minutes...

and Odoms with 10 rebounds...

for the Celts...

especially Davis, Wallace, T Allen and Robinson...

lots of minutes on the court with Perkins out and they didn't produce well...

I don't think they can survive another night of a combined 3 for 22 shooting from this group...

the Celts will need a much better percentage (33%) if they can't rebound with the Lakers length...

I know that sounds like I'm stating the obvious...but it's really that simple I think...if they can't score a good percentage...then they will need rebounding more than ever...

the Celts are seasoned...coached well...they know what to do...lightning won't strike twice...

should be a good game...

Kobe's gotten surly...difficult to talk to...I remember he did this last year...his interviews were just flat bizarre...

I guess with his talent and contract...he can be a little eccentric......he has a good supporting cast when they are motivated...as do the Celts...I expect a very physical game with lots of early fouls...could make a big difference...

Hot off the press....

Big Baby Glen Davis...

"I love it," he said. "This is what it's all about. It's what you guys are going to talk about for years. You guys are going to remember this moment. You're going to remember Thursday forever.

"I can't wait. I can't wait to step up on the floor and win here in L.A."

"We'll come to play, we'll compete, and we'll be there at the end holding the trophy."

After returning to Los Angeles for the last two games of the series, the Boston Celtics are currently 0-for-1 when it comes to NBA finals predictions. Their other prediction — from Glen Davis (notes) that they'd be meeting President Obama at the White House — has yet to be decided, no doy. But just to make things a little more interesting, Big Baby reiterated just how certain he was that the Celtics would be booking a trip to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

So add another prediction to the list, or at least just update it, because Glen Davis went on record again saying the Celtics would be dancing around the Larry O'Brien trophy after Thursday night's Game 7.

Wow, after they see that, the Lakers will win by 23 tomorrow instead of 22......

Talk is cheap, just like Gasol saying KG was done, like Jackson saying the Celtics would blow the lead in game 5.........

Talk is cheap, just shut up and play the game.

If the Celtics hit their shots and play defense like they are capable of, they win.

If they miss shot after shot and don't get the rebounds, they are toast.

If Big Baby starts and is up against Bynam, it could be a disaster.

If Wallace is on him, then it's up to KG to shut down Gasol, would rather have Wallace on Gasol, he gives him fits.

No Perk is tough, they'll need to play lights out to pull it out.

This is the last round up for the big three, all three need to have the game of their lives, so I hope they go out guns blazing like the last scene from "The Wild Bunch".................

As a lifelong Lakers fan, you can't help but both dread and look forward to a game 7 with the Celts. A chance to rid some of those ghosts from years past but also the possibility of another crushing defeat. It would haunt this franchise for decades to see the Celts celebrate in LA tonight. I like the Lakers chances with their size and speed. Kobe and Phil know what's at stake here and will be ready. I expect the Lakers to come out on fire, get the lead and hold on to win a close one. Gasol is the guy who needs a big game. With Perkins out the Lakers have a chance to dominate the paint. If they do that it will be time to drop those balloons at long last. If they fall behind early and Kobe starts trying to take over the game, it could be trouble.

The saddest picture in sports history - at least for Lakers fans. Jerry West the MVP of the 1969 finals walking off in defeat after game 7. Hopefully not a repeat tonight.

Stifling defense...

the Lakers look lost and out of sync...

Phil better pull a rabbit out of his rear end in the locker room at halftime...

The Lakers have little to worry about as long as Rasheed Wallace keeps taking all of the shots for the Celtics. It concerns me when the Celts offense is to give Wallace isolation in the post. Pierce looks good and they need to keep feeding him the ball.

Celtics could have blown this game wide open if Allen could hit the wide open threes he's missed. Clang, clang, clang...wide open, all the time in the world...CLANG. At least when Kobe is missing a three, it's a fadeaway from the corner in the face of a double team (here's hoping his shot selection doesn't improve). Add Allen's travelling gaff to the mix and he justs look awful offensively. He needs to have a better second half.

This game is stressful to watch.

Celts seem to be tiring a bit. Hopefully the Lakers can take advantage otherwise a major choke job. Only 53 points after 3 quarters.

Good game...nice comeback...the Celts played pretty well...LA didn't...shot 32% and 67% from the line...

they looked confused the whole game...

Gasol (18 rebounds) or Artest (20 points) deserve the game ball...

the truth is...it was one of the worst games I have ever seen...

Ron Artest...“Well, first all I want to thank everybody in my hood,” Artest said in an ABC interview right after the game. “I definitely want to thank my doctors … my psychiatrist, she really helped me relax a lot.”

hahahahahahahahaha.........

Phil has a history of three peats...

did it three times already...

next year could be the 4th...

For a much maligned Ron Artest, even if you dislike him, you have to be happy for him. He is a troubled guy, that is for sure, but it is nice to see him hopefully remove some of those infamous moments of his career with this win. He played well when it mattered and not only his postgame interview, but his press conference could land him a new job as a stand up comic!

Anyhow, not a great game, the Lakers by no means played great, but a team effort and resolve won this for them.

Am I happy, yes, would I have liked to see Game 6 performance, yes, will I take it................you bet! Anytime you can beat the Celts, no complaint here!

Not a pretty game, but both teams played hard. Kobe had something like 16 rebounds even though he was not shooting the ball well. Winning ugly is still winning. The Celts know that better than anyone else. How about Phil putting Sasha in after he had sat for most of the game to shoot those last free throws? If he clanks one or both and the Lakers lose - whew. Have to give him credit though he stepped up and knocked them down like it was practice instead of the final seconds of game 7 against Boston. Both of these teams are going to look very different next year.

Just impressions of the game. Stifling defense. Great determination on both sides. Laker's strategy to win at the line worked. Gasol deserved MVP. Without him, Celtics are champs. I watched the 2nd half (the only time I tuned in during the series) and marveled at how tough it was to score and how many prayer shots were thrown up. Congratulations to the Lakers. -- Al

Artest's 3 pointer at about the 1 minute mark was a killer. Go figure. -- Al
