Martyn, I am looking forward to see them.. could you post pictures of Melbourne Salvation Army sets, you acquired?
I got a Salvation army set, LE of 100 and will post its pictures over the weekend as well...
Al
Wow Martyn, now you made me envious
They are looking very good in these white uniforms, I have never seen these sets before...
Did they come in boxes with LE certificate and what are sets numbers?
Also what was "the damage", if you do not mind me asking ?
I will post pictures of my SA-band later this afternoon.
Al
Thank you, Martyn... now you just gave me one more reason to go to the London show
Here we go:
CO3 Salvation Army Band, limited to 100 sets and comes with a certificate.
CO5 General William Booth, the founder of Salvation Army.
Al
Nice sets Al, do the bases have the TM trade mark? I ask because some of the sets commissioned by Rod Keys have and some haven't.
Cheers
Martyn
Thank you, Martyn...these sets have the TM trade mark. Do you know what other sets were commissioned by Rod Keys?
Al
Hi Al
Here are four I know of
RW5A - Battle wagon - 5 figures with a small cart
RWK 9 - 6 piece Funeral March
RWK 20 - 12 piece band
RWK 26 - 24 piece French Congo marching band
I've also seen several small 4/5 figure sets with a Christmas theme, don't know the numbers though.
All my marching band have TM on the bases also
Cheers
Martyn
Thank you, Martyn... very interesting info... do you know quantities of these sets? French Congo band sounds intriguing? I have seen a small 4-5 figures "sitting" X-mas SA set...
Al
Hi Martyn,Hi Al
I'm not sure how many of each set where made. I believe my Melbourne Marching Band set is quite unique.
Cheers
Martyn
Hi Martyn,
No questions about it: your SA set is quite unique, could you ask Len about this set and Ray Keys sets next time you talk with him, please.
Al
This is a figure I found recently and quite rare
A cobbler repairing boots, he is a civilian member of the supply train about to embark on the Second Invasion of Zululand
Cheers

Martyn...the surfboard figures...those are too cool...what a great idea for commemorative photos for the West Coast Show!!!
