Latest additions (2 Viewers)

Martyn and Al,

Nice pickups, it is always a pleasure to see these great sets with my morning coffee.

Brian

Thank you Brian, seeing yours and Al's new additions set me up for the day

Cheers

Martyn:)

Hey Brian, Like the new additions. My favorite is the H to H set with the Zulu vs the dismounted Lancer. The Zulu is such a great little sculpt of an older headringed warrior. He even was a bit of a pot belly. - Ken

Thank you, Martyn... wonderful, wonderful sets I have never seen BW in khaki jackets before...Sudan infantry is great as well ... I wonder if these sets have ever made to the US ... I will ask a former Trophy US distributor next week...

Your id of my sets is greatly appreciated.

Brian , congrats on the finding AZW 'Butcher" set .. this one constantly escapes me...:D

Thanks Al.

It is always nice to find sets but I still get a buzz from finding single figures to add to the collection.

These four were picked up this week...............

That dead Egyptian is cool. Looks like someone originally had painted the base green, and it was repainted in sand. Kinda like my Indian artillery set in blue, which looks like it started with greens bases repainted with grey for the Boxer Rebellion.

Nice finds Martyn, that last one is odd though, looks like it has a double foot:confused: Wonder why they put dead figures on a base? Is he a repaint do you know? Hard to believe it would leave the factory looking like that.

I guess, it's they way they left Len's factory :D
I have one exactly like Martyn's plus another set for Afghanistan with a similar "dead" figure...

Very nice Martyn. I like singles. Sometimes with singles you can painstakingly build a set for not much money as opposed to buying the set outright. In addition, as I'm just getting started, I'm trying to focus on singles :)

I agree. This is how I am building my Trophy AZW. I pick up individual figures here and there, and sometimes by luck and with the help of forum members a complete set comes your way.

Although, one does get duplicates this way, especially when you find a complete set.

I am hoping to trade the duplicates one day.

Hi Scott, Well spotted, I think he was hit and fell back pushing his mate in to the soft sand leaving just his mates foot showing:D or this was a peice of metal left and the painter got overzealous.

I think the base was wrongly painted green and then overpainted brown, all my other Egyptians have brown bases. Come to think of it I had a box of Dervish that had green bases, but they fought in the Nile Delta:D

There are other dead figures on bases, the 24th from "Fields of War" for one.

I'll have to "dig" my other Egyptian out and compare him;)

Thanks Brad, I've never seen the figures you won on Ebay in sets, they were only available to buy individually

Here is the figure alongside one from set# TEQ 3 – EGYPTIAN GUN BATTERY “OUT OF ACTION”

It looks like the metal flashing was not cleaned before painting, there doesn’t appear to be a problem with the mold

On the reverse there is a hint of green paint

Martyn,
Boers look great, a lot of character. Too bad there is not a mounted commander, or is there? Nice photos as usual!;)

Thanks John, unfortunately there are no mounted Boers. I'll post the rest of the Boers in a short while
